Prologue

Humanity had lived a long and difficult life until that moment, the moment that will forever be known as the Advent of the Calamities.

A thousand years ago was the Pixefication—a process where the world was combined with the foreign elements of the cosmos.

It was a day of reckoning where pixel-like portals opened in the skies, and monsters of unknown origin descended on the world.

Calamities of the sea, Calamities of the sky and Calamities of the land started the crisis that would later cause half of the world's population to plummet.

Causing humans first ever fall to extinction. It was a dark time when humans scurried for lands and food, hiding from the Calamities that would later be referred to as Glitch Monsters or the Glitches.

It was in humanity's darkest hour that the first ever Player discovered his abilities—the Pixefication had not just come with Calamities but with gifts as well, the Server.

Humanity was selected by a foreign being, the Server Lord and brought with it, the Server System. Humans were chosen by the Server to become Challengers who would later be known as the Players.

These were humans chosen to lead humanity in the rise against the Glitches and with their inhumane abilities, they rose to the occasion.

For years, they fought to claim back their lands, and in fifty years, they finally pushed back the Glitches.

Peace soon reigned once again, but Humanity had lost too much to the Glitches.

This led to the revolution of the earth and the initialization of the Seven Strongholds, each with a Player to lead them in their fight against the monsters.

For fifty more years, humanity no longer lived in fear of the Glitches but instead challenged them and fostered the growth of their Strongholds.

Throughout the years, humanity advanced and so did the technology with the use of newfound resources brought by the Calamities.

It regained its previous civilization in seven hundred years and surpassed it in two hundred more, becoming the megacities they are today.

Yet, humanity was not as safe as they assumed. With the long-lasting peace and fight against the Glitch Monsters, they had once again regained control of Earth, but something darker was in play.

Something that requires the action of a human, a human chosen not by the Server but by the lord itself.
