Zack gritted his teeth. There was no time to hesitate and doubt himself. He had to act now or else — another one of his friends will die.
With a deep breath, he stepped out of his cover and hurled a chunk of debris across the arena. The heavy stone clattered noisily against a metal pillar, echoing through the space.
The seeker's red optics flickered, recalibrating. Its head jerked towards the sound, its mechanical limbs shifting as it turned away from Jake's hiding spot.
Zack's pulse thundered in his ears as the seeker took the bait, stomping towards the source of the noise. His distraction had worked — for now. But he knew he couldn't keep this up forever.
Meanwhile, Ambrose stood motionless, calculating. He had to get a warning to Jake without exposing himself. His ability — Unyielding Shield — allowed him to create a barrier that would make him invisible to the seeker.
He activated it without hesitation.
