"We're not going to fight them head-on," Zack said, voice steady but urgent. "We're going to trick them."
Ellie narrowed her eyes. "Trick them how?"
"If we can make them believe there's a bigger, more vulnerable target — something they need to hunt — we can control their movements. Lure them away from Arya and whatever place they're keeping her."
Ambrose tilted his head. "And how do you plan on doing that?"
Zack glanced around, his mind racing. "We make them think there's a fresh kill somewhere else. A big one. Something worth abandoning their current hunt for."
Jake's lips parted in realization. "You mean… fake a massacre?"
Zack nodded. "If they think there's a better food source somewhere else, they'll move. They have to. Cannibals are opportunists. The promise of an easier feast will override their caution."
Jake gave him a wary look. "That's one hell of a gamble."
"It is." Zack met his gaze. "But it's our best shot at getting Arya out alive."
