One by one, the sentinels descended, their scanning beams slicing through the dimly lit space like lasers with red light. Their sleek, insect-like frames hovered with eerie precision, each one locking scanning for information.

Clark yelled out loud, "Come on! Over here!" The sentinels whirled toward him, their scanners flickering as they detected movement. Clark didn't wait — he turned on his heel and sprinted down the western corridor, his boots slamming against the ground.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
The sentinels locked onto his heat signature. The hum of their propulsion systems grew louder as they shot after him.
Nicole moved next. Without hesitation, she grabbed a nearby metal pipe and hurled it against the far wall. The loud CLANGechoed through the chamber, drawing the attention of another cluster of sentinels.
She smirked. "Come get me, bastards."
Then, she bolted toward the opposite hallway, her heart pounding as the machines veered after her.
