Shennong had lied to her. He had told Cassandra that he would give her time to think about his words, but that was not what happened. Her husband had attended a banquet at a duke's household, and apparently, he had purposefully ignored Cassandra telling others she was sick so she wouldn't be able to attend the banquet.
During her time alone in the mansion, while he was away, Cassandra learned many things.
Shennong visited her every day for the entire week that Baron was gone, teaching her, guiding her and —showing her what it truly meant to be a woman. He awakened feelings she had never experienced before and introduced her to sensations she had never known.

As Cassandra strolled through the garden, a sudden force tugged at her hand. She didn't need to turn around to know who it was—only one person could be this bold. It was Shennong himself.
