"Adrian, drive slowly. We both know you don't miss your family that much." Sean said with a sigh as his words got ignored once again.
The streetlights blurred into streaks of gold as Adrian's car sped through the city roads, the world outside barely registering in his mind. His grip on the steering wheel was tight, knuckles turning white, but he didn't care.
Everything that had happened back at the airport was still ringing in his ears…Seraphina's voice, the cold defiance in her eyes, the hatred in that little boy's stare, Theo's hand on her wrist.
'You don't know anything, Adrian. So don't stand there and act like you do.'
His jaw clenched as he replayed her words, each one cutting deeper than the last.
Beside him, Sean shifted uncomfortably in the passenger seat, watching him with growing concern. The tension in the car was suffocating.
"You're driving like a maniac," Sean finally said, his voice cautious but firm. "Slow the hell down, Adrian. I don't wanna die today."
