Adam stepped back from Kane, his mind clouded with uncertainty. His fists clenched, then relaxed, then clenched again. He needed to think.
Without another word, he turned on his heel and strode out of the cell, the heavy durasteel door sealing shut behind him with a deep, echoing hiss.
As he walked down the corridor, his boots clicking against the polished floors of the facility, his thoughts swirled like a storm.
20%.
That was the probability Kane had given. Not zero. Not absolute. But not reassuring either.
There could be more of them.
More people like him—people who didn't belong to this universe, who had been thrown into this galaxy like discarded pieces on a game board. But were they scattered? Hiding? Or worse—dead before they even realized what had happened to them?
Adam's stomach twisted. He had no way of knowing.
Which meant he had to be careful.
The possibility of others meant new variables. Unknown risks. Threats. If someone else from his world was here, what did they know? What would they do with that knowledge? Were they Sith? Jedi? Something else entirely?
Kane had been a ghost, a phantom in the shadows. If someone like him had managed to evade the Sith and the Republic for this long, who else was out there? And how dangerous could they be?
Adam exhaled sharply.
He couldn't afford to make mistakes.
He would observe ,Listen,Keep his guard up.
For now, he would follow his master.
For now, he would pretend nothing had changed.
He turned a corner and entered the main chamber where Sidious and Dooku were waiting. His master stood near a grand display of holograms, the flickering blue light casting eerie shadows across his hooded face. Dooku, ever poised, had his hands folded neatly behind his back.
They both turned as Adam approached.
Sidious studied him with those piercing, calculating eyes, the kind that saw beyond flesh and straight into one's very soul.
"You have questions." It wasn't a question.
Adam hesitated for only a second before shaking his head. "No, my master"
Sidious let out a low hum.
Dooku, however, narrowed his gaze slightly. "Did he tell you anything of value?"
Adam nodded. "He indeed has connections, many resources that we can use. He was testing me. But he will break."
Sidious smiled thinly. "Good. You will see to it personally."
Adam bowed his head. "As you wish, my master."
Sidious turned away, focusing back on the holograms, no doubt planning his next move. Dooku lingered for a moment, studying Adam with that same unreadable expression before following suit.
Adam stood there, silent. Calculating.
For now, he would play along.
But Kane…
Kane was not just another obstacle.
He was a possibility.
And Adam was going to find out just how deep that possibility ran.
