Estella awoke the next morning to the quiet of the house. By the time she got downstairs she could not feel crassus presence anywhere. She called one of the maids to confirm what she already suspected. "Did crassus tell you where he was going this morning?" she asked, trying to keep her tone neutral.
The maid shook her head apologetically. "No, Luna. Alpha Crassus left early this morning. He didn't mention when he would return."
Estella nodded, waving her off. As the maid left, she glanced out the window, a faint crease forming between her brows. What exactly is going on that keeps pulling him away from the pack so often? she wondered. Though her curiosity flickered, she quickly pushed the thought aside. Crassus was the Alpha; there were bound to be responsibilities and dangers she wasn't privy to yet.
She dressed swiftly after breakfast, determined not to dwell on it further. There was no use worrying over things she couldn't control. Her focus today was on training.
