0.2 [ Resistance and Immunity explained ]

In my world, type immunities and resistances aren't absolute—they're influenced by the strength difference between the Pokémon. If the level gap isn't massive, a move can still deal some damage, even if the opponent has a type advantage or immunity.. In this world I've built, if a Pokémon wants to fully resist or nullify a move, it has to be strong enough to back up that resistance. Immunity alone isn't enough. Power matters too.

Originally, I didn't plan it this way. My first drafts leaned heavily into standard game mechanics, but after reading a comment saying the world felt "too game-like," I decided to tweak how battle dynamics work. I wanted a slightly more flexible and story-driven system.

Someone already asked me about this, and my answer was basically:

"No actual damage was done to [Spoiler],, which is why it was only pushed back a bit instead of being knocked through a wall. In my world, unless the level difference is enormous, attacks can still land in some way. I didn't originally design it this way, but that feedback about the world feeling too gamey made me reconsider."

When I went back and proofread that chapter, I legit said, "F*CK! I MADE A MISTAKE." But then I thought, "You know what? Let it ride." I actually wanted Ralts to feel like a special partner. Think about how Ash's Pikachu could casually dunk on Rock- and Ground-types like it was nothing. If that was allowed, then why can't my girl do something similar? She's built different. Simple as that.
