Lin Yongming and his two companions were having dinner at a restaurant when they overheard people discussing the recent tidal disaster.
"Were you at the beach today? I heard there were waves over ten meters high that destroyed everything along the shoreline."
"No, but I heard about it too. They say around a hundred people died. If there hadn't been soul masters at the beach at the time, the death toll would have been even higher."
"It's strange. Waves aren't uncommon, but to have such massive waves appear in broad daylight is quite rare."
"Yes, these waves certainly caught everyone off guard."
"You know, I was actually at the beach when it happened. I saw several giant sharks in the water, bigger than this restaurant. They must have been deep-sea soul beasts that caused all this."
Lin Yongming and his two companions listened to these conversations while eating.
"This was indeed an unexpected disaster, and dealing with sea soul beasts is much harder than forest soul beasts," Lin Yongming said, sharing his experience of fighting underwater with the other two.
"The sea isn't our battleground, which puts us at a significant disadvantage," Blue Silver Empress nodded.
"This was my first encounter with sea soul beasts. I noticed that the ten-thousand-year level sea creatures are several times larger than their forest counterparts of the same rank," Bibi Dong told them about the size of the Magic Shark she had seen.
"Well, the ocean is several times larger than the land, so naturally, the creatures living there tend to be bigger," Lin Yongming explained calmly.
"That's true. We've explored most of the land to some extent, but when it comes to the ocean, we know nothing about how vast it truly is."
"By the way, do either of you know what's on the other side of the ocean?" Bibi Dong asked curiously.
"How would anyone know that? Unless they were a deity. If you asked me what's on the other side of the Douluo Empire, I could tell you it's the Star Luo Empire," Blue Silver Empress replied helplessly.
"Actually, I know," Lin Yongming said slowly.
"What? How do you know, Xiaoming? What is it?" Both Bibi Dong and Blue Silver Empress looked at Lin Yongming with surprised expressions.
"Hehe! Want to know? If you want to know, serve me some of the delicious dishes," Lin Yongming chuckled mysteriously.
"Here, Xiaoming, eat," the two curious women took turns putting food on his plate.
"Tell us quickly!"
"Let me take a bite first," Lin Yongming smiled.
"Don't push your luck," Blue Silver Empress gave him a light slap on the arm.
"Alright, listen carefully," Lin Yongming cleared his throat.
"Actually, on the other side of the ocean... is right here, the Douluo Continent," Lin Yongming finally revealed.
"Hmph! You're getting too bold. We've been so curious all this time, and you're just mocking us," Blue Silver Empress, upon hearing this, grabbed Lin Yongming's ear in displeasure.
"Well done, Ayin! I've noticed Xiaoming's getting too cheeky lately. Pull harder!" Bibi Dong was also speechless but took pleasure in his discomfort.
"Stop, stop! I'm telling the truth. The other side of the ocean really is the Douluo Continent," Lin Yongming explained with an innocent face.
Lin Yongming wasn't wrong. The other side of the ocean truly was the Douluo Continent. If one were to walk in a straight line, regardless of what they encountered along the way, they would eventually return to this place.
Because it's a planet, after all. It's round.
But Lin Yongming didn't know how to explain this to the two women. Should he tell them that the Douluo Continent and the ocean were actually one entity, with the land simply being above sea level? Such scientific concepts would be difficult to convey.
As a blind man who hadn't read books, he feared that the more he tried to explain, the less sense it would make.
It would be like the Moon Worshipping Cult Leader in "The Legend of Sword and Fairy" trying to explain to Li Xiaoyao and others that they all lived on a planet.
No one would believe him.
Fortunately, the two women didn't ask further questions. They clearly didn't believe him and dismissed it as nonsense.
After dinner, they walked back to the hotel along the street.
"I just heard them saying that the sunrise over the sea is beautiful. Why don't we get up early tomorrow to watch it?" Bibi Dong suggested to the other two.
"That sounds great! It's rare for us to be by the sea. I just hope we don't encounter another crisis like at noon today," Blue Silver Empress said longingly.
"Listen, you two ladies, don't be like you were at noon, playing until you lose all vigilance. Always keep your guard up," Lin Yongming reminded them.
"You're right. Ayin and I were playing in the sea, and we let our guard down in an unfamiliar environment. We thought everything was calm, but the next moment it was all chaos," Bibi Dong nodded and reflected on their actions.
"Indeed. We still have more than two years of training ahead of us, and what happened at noon today can't happen again. We were lucky it was just sea soul beasts causing the crisis. If we had encountered particularly cunning fallen ones, we might have been sold out without even realizing it," Blue Silver Empress also sincerely reflected.
"Good, you're both learning," Lin Yongming said in a deliberately mature tone.
"Hey! Don't forget, among the three of us, you're the youngest, yet you speak to us like an elder. Are you asking for trouble again?" Blue Silver Empress gave him another light slap.
"Ayin, hit him!" Bibi Dong joined in the fun.
The three of them playfully bantered all the way back to the hotel.
"Remember to wake up early tomorrow. I can wake you two if you'd like," Bibi Dong reminded them as she opened her room door.
"Got it!" Blue Silver Empress replied, "Or perhaps, tonight I'll let Xiaoming stay with you, to calm your still-startled heart from this afternoon."
"Get lost... stupid Ayin!" Bibi Dong's face reddened with anger before she slammed the door shut.
"Damn Ayin, bringing up what doesn't need to be mentioned. I was almost about to forget about it," Bibi Dong leaned against the door after closing it, remembering her underwater experience, feeling her heart flutter.
"At least Xiaoming couldn't see, otherwise he would have seen me half-naked." Bibi Dong didn't know whether to be relieved that Lin Yongming couldn't see, or disappointed.
Back in their hotel room, Blue Silver Empress, who hadn't bathed in the afternoon, went into the bathroom first while Lin Yongming lay down on the bed.
Not long after, Blue Silver Empress emerged wearing a bathrobe, her blue hair cascading down her shoulders—a perfect image of beauty.
"Xiaoming, are you asleep?" she softly asked, looking at Lin Yongming lying down.
"No, I'm waiting to settle a score with you," Lin Yongming chuckled.
"Settle a score? What score?" Blue Silver Empress was surprised.
"Hmph, you pulled my ear three times today. I told you I'd get even tonight," Lin Yongming sat up.
"Hmph, you deserved it for your loose tongue," Blue Silver Empress retorted.
"No more excuses. Let's see how I deal with you," Lin Yongming pulled Blue Silver Empress's hand, making her sit on his lap.
"No, Ayin won't dare anymore," Blue Silver Empress said sweetly, smiling.
"Too late!"
...
The next day, before dawn, Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Empress, still embracing in sleep, were awakened by knocking on their door.
"Mmm... must be that Bibi Dong girl. It's not even light out yet," Blue Silver Empress turned her head to look at the window, rubbing her eyes.
"Ayin, Xiaoming, get up! It's almost dawn. We'll miss the sunrise if you don't hurry," Bibi Dong's voice accompanied the knocking.
"Xiaoming, get up. You were like a bull last night, and now you can't wake up, can you?"
"Ayin, aren't you embarrassed saying that? I don't recall who was crying and begging for mercy."
"Nonsense!"
As they talked, they got up, dressed, and after a quick wash in the bathroom, opened the door.
"Why are you two taking so long? The sun's about to rise," Bibi Dong urged when she saw them.
"Good grief, it's still pitch black outside, and you're talking about sunrise? We'll be standing on the mountain catching cold for at least an hour. And you're dressed so thinly—someone here can't see anyway, so put on more clothes or you'll catch a cold," Blue Silver Empress both complained and reminded Bibi Dong to dress warmly.
"Fine, I'll put on a coat when we get outside," Bibi Dong retorted.
At this point, Lin Yongming was tactful enough not to interject, letting the two women have their exchange.
As they left the hotel, they found an early breakfast vendor on the roadside.
After breakfast, the sky gradually began to lighten.
The three quickly headed to a hill east of the city, close to the ocean.
On the hilltop stood a lighthouse nearly twenty meters tall, with a red light at the top that flashed every few seconds.
Around the lighthouse was lush green grass, covered with dew in the early morning. The trio laid out a moisture-proof mat and sat together waiting for the sunrise.
"Xiaodongdong, don't lean on me. Go to the other side and lean on Xiaoming," Blue Silver Empress, resting her head on Lin Yongming's left shoulder while gazing at the sea, quickly pushed Bibi Dong away when she tried to lean against her.
"Stupid Ayin, so stingy! You think I wouldn't dare?" Bibi Dong said angrily.
"Go ahead then!" Blue Silver Empress glanced at her.
"Fine!" Bibi Dong stood up immediately, adorably stomped her foot, and moved to Lin Yongming's right side.
"Xiaoming, can I lean on your shoulder?" Bibi Dong asked directly.
"Xiaoming, let her!" Blue Silver Empress immediately said.
"..." Lin Yongming was silent for a moment. "Alright!"
"Thank you!" Bibi Dong was startled, then sat on his right side and slowly rested her head on his right shoulder.
"Why do I feel like these two are the bickering couple?" Lin Yongming thought to himself.
The three formed a triangle, with Lin Yongming at the apex.
Maintaining this posture, they waited until the white clouds on the horizon turned golden red, and a beam of golden light pierced the sky.
Gradually, the sun peeked above the horizon. Suddenly, rays of light spread in all directions, with golden light reflecting on the ocean surface, as if splitting the sea in two.
"It's so beautiful! Watching the sun rise from the sea makes me feel reborn," Bibi Dong no longer leaned on Lin Yongming but stood up and took a step forward, praising the sunrise.
"Indeed. I've seen sunrises before, but watching it from land versus from the seaside are two completely different experiences. This truly is a unique view," Blue Silver Empress came to Bibi Dong's side, gently closing her eyes to enjoy the new day's sunlight, taking a deep breath.
"Come on, someday I'll bring the sun down and present it to you both, so you can look at it all you want," Lin Yongming said smugly.
"Shut up, you're ruining the moment!" Lin Yongming's comment immediately broke the spell for both women.
After about ten minutes, the sun had risen above the horizon, and the scenery became ordinary.
"Finally done watching. Let's go back and catch up on sleep," Blue Silver Empress yawned.
"Really? We just got up early. Are you that tired?" Bibi Dong asked, puzzled.
Blue Silver Empress glanced at Bibi Dong. Was she supposed to tell her that they had been up until one in the morning?
"Let's go. I am a bit tired. You two have seen the sunrise, but I can't see anything, so what else is there to do if we don't go back to sleep?" Lin Yongming stood up as well.
"You two are acting strange. Didn't you sleep last night? Or did you sleep too late?"
"Wait, you two weren't playing games without me, were you?" Bibi Dong suddenly had a realization and exclaimed.
"Yes, we were playing games. I invited Xiaoming to play with you yesterday, but you refused," Blue Silver Empress said calmly.
"Nonsense! Shameless!" Bibi Dong's face turned bright red.
Then, Bibi Dong walked ahead, heading back to the hotel, and unusually, she didn't say a word the entire way.
"It's rare to see Bibi Dong so quiet," Blue Silver Empress and Lin Yongming held hands as they walked behind her.
"Ayin, stop teasing her," Lin Yongming sighed helplessly. Every time Blue Silver Empress teased Bibi Dong, she liked to involve him and Bibi Dong.
"Hmph, she should just express her feelings instead of being so secretive. And you, even though you know I'm doing it deliberately, you're also avoiding the issue. I was very clear with you yesterday," Blue Silver Empress complained.
"Ayin, these things can't be rushed. As I've said, my feelings for Bibi Dong aren't as strong yet. She's different from us—you've been with me since we were young," Lin Yongming explained helplessly.
"Alright, alright, you have a point. It's like cultivation—haste makes waste. Besides, I don't mind, but she might. After all, she's been the noble Holy Maiden, the princess of the Spirit Hall, since childhood," Blue Silver Empress sighed.
"But Bibi Dong is indeed an exceptional woman, and she's very beautiful. If you could open your eyes, you'd feast upon her beauty," Blue Silver Empress then chuckled.
"Hmph, in my heart, no one compares to you," Lin Yongming replied.
"You know what's good for you!" Blue Silver Empress smiled happily.
"Hey, hey, you're indirectly asking me to compliment you, aren't you? I didn't realize my Ayin was so narcissistic," Lin Yongming teased.
"It's not narcissism, it's confidence," Blue Silver Empress replied in a proud tone.
"Yes, yes!"
Back at the hotel, Bibi Dong was meditating, while Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Empress fell into a deep sleep.
They spent another day playing in the coastal city.
On the fourth day, during dinner, they finally brought up continuing their training journey.
"Alright, we've spent a few days in the coastal city and had enough seafood. We can't neglect our training. Let's prepare some supplies and leave early tomorrow morning," Lin Yongming suggested to the two women.
"Good, I'm getting a bit tired of playing here. Besides, this isn't the only coastal city; there are others by the sea," Bibi Dong nodded.
"According to our route, our next stop is a small town, all the way to the capital of the Xiling Kingdom," Blue Silver Empress mentioned the previously planned route.
"Mm-hmm."
The next day, shortly after sunrise, Lin Yongming and his two companions left the coastal city, heading northeast toward the capital.
On the way, the three discussed that at their current pace, they might not be able to cover the entire Douluo Empire and the four kingdoms' territories in three years.
So they agreed that, barring any unusual occurrences in the wilderness, they would increase their pace.
