"What… three years?!"
"And with that woman, Bibi Dong, no less!"
After returning to the hotel, Blue Silver Emperor sat on the sofa, pulling Lin Yongming to explain everything.
Upon hearing Lin Yongming's explanation, Blue Silver Emperor was so shocked that she jumped up from her seat.
"I didn't expect the Pope to give me such a mission either," Lin Yongming said with a hint of helplessness.
"Hmph! The Pope probably sees your talent and wants to push you and Bibi Dong together."
"Three years traveling together, and by the time you return, you'll be married with a child," Blue Silver Emperor pouted, clearly unhappy.
"A'Yin, if Qian Xunji really plans for Xiao Ming to take over as the Grand Elder in the future, this is a good thing for him. It means he's earned the Pope's recognition. Bibi Dong is the Holy Maiden, the future Pope, and Xiao Ming would be the Grand Elder overseeing the Elder Hall and the Judgment Corps. It makes sense for them to train together to avoid conflicts later."
"Besides, you'll be going with them. What could possibly happen?" Xiao Rou chimed in.
"I get that. Training for three years isn't the issue. It's just that I don't want an outsider tagging along and disrupting our time together," Blue Silver Emperor said with a sigh.
"A'Yin, it's fine. We'll just pretend she's not there. If anything, she's the one who should feel awkward, not us," Lin Yongming reassured her.
"You can't see her, so it's easy for you to ignore her. But I can see her," Blue Silver Emperor rolled her eyes. "I've decided. For the next three years, you're not allowed to touch me."
"What? Then who am I supposed to touch? Her?" Lin Yongming blurted out without thinking.
"You dare! If you touch her, I'll break your legs," Blue Silver Emperor huffed.
"Wouldn't you feel bad for me?" Lin Yongming pulled Blue Silver Emperor onto his lap.
"If it's not for me, then what's the point of keeping it? Might as well cut it off!" Blue Silver Emperor pinched Lin Yongming's cheeks, pretending to be fierce.
"Hey, hey, don't forget I'm still here. Are you two seriously going to act like this in front of me?" Xiao Rou interjected, looking exasperated.
"Forget it. You two can take me home tomorrow. I can't watch this anymore. It's exhausting!" Xiao Rou sighed, rubbing her forehead.
"It's all your fault, Xiao Ming. You're messing with my mind," Blue Silver Emperor said, finally realizing how intimate they were being. Her face turned red as she quickly got off Lin Yongming's lap.
"..."
During dinner, Lin Yongming and the others left their hotel room and noticed that the hotel had become much quieter. Most of the academy teams had already left.
Originally, Lin Yongming had planned to meet up with Ning Fengzhi and the others after the tournament for a gathering.
However, due to the incident with Sword Douluo, Ning Fengzhi and his group had left Spirit Hall City early.
As they entered the hotel's dining hall, two familiar figures approached them.
"Brother Lin, Blue Silver, Miss Xiao Rou, long time no see," Tang Hao greeted them warmly.
"Brother Tang, long time no see!" Lin Yongming replied.
"It's been a while!" Xiao Rou said, feeling slightly awkward.
It was Tang Hao and his brother, Tang Xiao. They hadn't seen each other in over a year.
"When did you arrive in Spirit Hall City?" Lin Yongming asked curiously.
"We got here on the day of the tournament's opening ceremony. Congratulations, Brother Lin, on winning the Continental Elite Tournament. I didn't expect you to participate in this competition," Tang Xiao replied with a smile.
"Yeah, we didn't want to disturb you while you were competing," Tang Hao added.
"I see. Have you eaten yet? Let's have a meal together."
"We were just about to invite you. We've already ordered the food and were planning to call you to your room."
The five of them sat by the window and began eating, chatting as they enjoyed their meal. Tang Hao occasionally cracked a joke, making Xiao Rou laugh softly.
An hour later, as the sky darkened, they left the dining hall.
"Brother Tang, when are you leaving Spirit Hall City?" Lin Yongming asked.
"We're leaving tomorrow. I recently broke through to the 60th rank, so we're planning to head to the Star Dou Forest and then travel around the continent," Tang Hao replied.
"Tomorrow? Why don't we go together? I'm also planning to leave tomorrow since the tournament is over," Xiao Rou suggested.
"That sounds great! We can hire a carriage," Tang Hao agreed immediately.
"Then it's settled."
After saying their goodbyes, they returned to the hotel.
"Xiao Ming, A'Yin, you don't need to escort me back. You can stay in Spirit Hall City and explore a bit more. You've been busy with the tournament and haven't had much time to enjoy the city," Xiao Rou said as they prepared to sleep.
"Sister Xiao Rou, are you sure? Shouldn't Xiao Ming and I accompany you back?" Blue Silver Emperor asked, concerned.
"It's fine. I'm a Soul Sage, stronger than both of you," Xiao Rou replied before heading to her bedroom.
Not long after, the overcast weather turned into a heavy downpour, accompanied by thunder and lightning.
"A'Yin, the tournament is finally over," Lin Yongming said softly, holding Blue Silver Emperor in his arms.
"Mm. The tournament's over. So, what do you want to do now?" Blue Silver Emperor asked, lightly slapping Lin Yongming's wandering hands.
"A'Yin, you smell so good. A faint grassy scent. Can I have you now?" Lin Yongming whispered sweetly.
"Mm… but during the training, you have to keep your distance from Bibi Dong," Blue Silver Emperor murmured.
"Of course. You'll be there with me," Lin Yongming replied.
"Who knows what tricks you have up your sleeve? No, I'm going to pin you down," Blue Silver Emperor said, flipping over to take the lead.
"Alright!" Lin Yongming was momentarily stunned.
Who knows what happened in that small bedroom during the thunderstorm?
...
The next morning, around nine o'clock, they saw Xiao Rou off to the carriage.
"Sister Xiao Rou, are you sure you don't want us to come with you?" Blue Silver Emperor asked, holding Xiao Rou's hand.
"It's fine. It's too much trouble for you to go back and forth. Take care, and remember to prioritize your safety during your training," Xiao Rou advised.
"Got it, Sister Xiao Rou. Take care," Lin Yongming nodded.
"Take care!" Xiao Rou nodded and walked toward the carriage, where Tang Hao and his brother were waiting.
"Xiao Rou's gone. Who knows when we'll see her again," Blue Silver Emperor said with a hint of sadness.
"A'Yin, everyone has their own path. We'll find time to meet her again in the future," Lin Yongming said gently, holding her hand.
"Mm. Let's go back to the hotel and catch up on sleep. I'm still tired, and it's all your fault," Blue Silver Emperor blushed, remembering last night's events.
"Yes, yes, it's all my fault. I'm sorry," Lin Yongming quickly apologized. "But since we're already out, let's have breakfast before going back to sleep."
"Mm!"
Over the next few days, Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Emperor enjoyed their time together, exploring Spirit Hall City without any interruptions.
Meanwhile, Bibi Dong in Spirit Hall also took the opportunity to rest properly.
"Teacher, since you've assigned me to train with Lin Yongming for three years, should I tell him about my twin spirits? That way, we can build trust and work better together," Bibi Dong asked Qian Xunji one day in the courtyard.
"Lin Yongming… it's up to you. If you think it's necessary, then tell him. After all, I can't predict what challenges you'll face during these three years. Only by trusting each other completely can you overcome them," Qian Xunji replied after some thought.
"I understand, Teacher," Bibi Dong said seriously before leaving Spirit Hall.
"I should also discuss the training route with Xiao Ming. He's probably at the hotel now," Bibi Dong thought to herself as she looked up at the sky and headed toward Spirit Hall Hotel.
Familiar with the way, she knocked on the hotel room door.
"A'Yin, I'll get the door."
"Okay."
When Lin Yongming opened the door, Bibi Dong smiled at him. "Xiao Ming, are you busy?"
"Not at all. Holy Maiden, please come in," Lin Yongming invited her inside.
"Where's Blue Silver? Is she not here?" Bibi Dong asked, noticing Blue Silver Emperor's absence.
"She's taking a shower. Holy Maiden, what brings you here?" Lin Yongming asked.
"Why is she showering in the middle of the afternoon?" Bibi Dong asked curiously.
"We just got back from exploring the city. It was hot, so we worked up a sweat," Lin Yongming explained as he closed the door.
"No wonder. You look refreshed. You've been resting well these past few days," Bibi Dong said as she sat on the sofa. "It's been ten days. I came to discuss our training route."
"We should definitely plan that," Lin Yongming said. Just then, Blue Silver Emperor walked into the living room, drying her hair.
"The Holy Maiden is here," Blue Silver Emperor said, sitting next to Lin Yongming.
"Don't call me Holy Maiden. Just call me Bibi Dong. I assume Xiao Ming told you about the three-year training mission. Are you coming along?" Bibi Dong asked with a wry smile.
"Of course I'm coming. What if you steal Xiao Ming away?" Blue Silver Emperor said, puffing out her chest.
"Ugh… Fine, come along. Only you would treat Xiao Ming like a treasure," Bibi Dong retorted.
"What about you? Don't you want someone like Xiao Ming?" Blue Silver Emperor teased.
"Hmph! No," Bibi Dong snorted.
"Um… Can we talk normally?" Lin Yongming interjected weakly.
"Quiet!"
"Okay…"
After about ten minutes of silence, Lin Yongming spoke up. "Should I go get some food from the dining hall while you two keep staring at each other?"
"It's only four in the afternoon," Bibi Dong reminded him.
"Alright."
"Since I can't see, why don't the two of you pull out a map and decide where to start?" Lin Yongming suggested.
"What's there to decide? We're starting from Thunderstorm Village," Blue Silver Emperor said dismissively.
"Why?" Bibi Dong was puzzled.
"Bibi Dong, A'Yin and I discussed this a couple of days ago. We've been away from home for a while, and before we start our training, we want to go back home for a bit. After all, we'll be training for three years, and we don't know when we'll get another chance to return," Lin Yongming explained.
"That works. We haven't finalized the route anyway, so starting from Thunderstorm Village is fine," Bibi Dong agreed without hesitation.
"Also, I think the fallen ones are more likely to be in remote areas, so we can start from the kingdoms and work our way around," Bibi Dong added.
"That makes sense. Let's settle on that," Lin Yongming nodded.
"Have you two had enough of Spirit Hall City? Why don't we leave in a couple of days? The city's getting a bit boring," Bibi Dong suggested.
"Sure. We'll head back to Thunderstorm Village in a couple of days, so we can spend more time there," Blue Silver Emperor agreed.
"Since our training is about to begin, and we're going to be partners, I think it's important to build trust. I've decided to share a secret with you," Bibi Dong stood up, looking serious.
"Oh? What secret? You're being so formal," Blue Silver Emperor asked curiously.
Lin Yongming, however, had a feeling. "Is Bibi Dong going to reveal her twin spirits?"
Without saying a word, Bibi Dong extended her hands, releasing a bit of spirit power. Two spider-like spirits emerged from her palms.
In her right hand was a dark purple spider, and in her left was a deep green spider.
"Twin spirits! And both are spider-type spirits—the Death Spider and the Soul Devouring Spider," Blue Silver Emperor exclaimed in surprise.
"Twin spirits! No wonder you're the Holy Maiden," Lin Yongming pretended to be shocked, even though he already knew.
"Yes, I have two spirits. Aside from my teacher, only the two of you know this. Even among the elders, only the Grand Elder might be aware," Bibi Dong said, retracting her spirits and looking at them seriously.
"I didn't expect you to trust us so much. I'm touched. As a token of gratitude, I'll share Xiao Ming with you," Blue Silver Emperor said, patting Bibi Dong's shoulder.
"Uh… I don't want him," Bibi Dong's face turned red for a moment before she quickly composed herself.
"Bibi Dong, I didn't expect you to share such an important secret with us. Don't worry, A'Yin and I won't tell anyone," Lin Yongming said earnestly.
"I trust you," Bibi Dong nodded.
"We don't have much to offer in return, but how about we treat you to dinner? We've been in Spirit Hall City for a while but haven't properly thanked you for your help," Blue Silver Emperor suggested, taking Bibi Dong's hand.
"It's nothing. We're friends," Bibi Dong smiled.
"Don't be modest."
The three of them left the hotel and went to a nice restaurant for dinner.
Over the next three days, Lin Yongming and the others prepared their supplies.
On the fourth day, Lin Yongming and Bibi Dong went to the Pope's Hall.
"Your Holiness, we're ready to depart. We plan to return to my hometown for a few days before officially starting our training," Lin Yongming explained.
"That's fine. As long as you're prepared, you can start wherever you want. However, I expect to hear about your progress every year. After all, I'm sending you out to train, not to travel. So, I want to hear about your encounters with fallen ones at least three times a year."
Qian Xunji had his own requirements. Otherwise, it wouldn't be training—it would just be a vacation.
"Understood. Lin Yongming and I will actively seek out fallen ones and focus on our training," Bibi Dong assured him.
"You may go," Qian Xunji waved them off.
"Yes, Your Holiness!"
By the time they left, it was already around eleven in the morning. The three of them hired a carriage and set off toward Thunderstorm Village.
