Ryuu Uchiha, the most powerful member of the Uchiha clan, was at odds with Fugaku Uchiha, the son of the patriarch. However, many Konoha executives were pleased to see this rivalry.
The higher-ups in Konoha had no desire for a united Uchiha clan, and several shadowy figures worked behind the scenes to exacerbate the tensions between Ryuu and Fugaku, making their relationship extremely rigid.
"Captain Ryuu is not late. Some people just arrived too early," Sasuke Uchiha sneered at Fugaku.
Fugaku Uchiha's expression darkened at Sasuke's intervention. His sullen face looked even more grim.
Like Kaito Uchiha, Sasuke Uchiha was also a loyal supporter of Ryuu. As one of the strongest members of the Uchiha clan, his strength was not far from Fugaku's.
"I'm speaking to Ryuu Uchiha. Who do you think you are to interrupt?" Fugaku said coldly.
"You want to die?" Sasuke snapped, drawing a kunai from his ninja pouch.
"Sasuke, don't waste your energy on trash." Ryuu finally spoke.
"He's just a failure. Why waste your time on him?" Ryuu said, glancing at Fugaku with blatant disdain.
In Ryuu's eyes, Fugaku was nothing more than a failure. No matter what the reasons were, as the patriarch leading the clan to its downfall, the destruction of the Uchiha clan was a stain on his name.
"Ryuu Uchiha!"
With a furious shout, Fugaku Uchiha unsheathed his sword and slashed at Ryuu.
The blade cut into Ryuu's body, only for a puff of white smoke to erupt as the real Ryuu disappeared. The sword had struck a mere piece of wood.
"Konoha forbids shinobi from attacking their own comrades. Fugaku Uchiha, do you intend to become a rogue ninja?" Ryuu's voice rang from behind Fugaku as he launched a powerful kick, sending him tumbling across the ground.
Although Fugaku was an Elite Jōnin, he was far weaker than Ryuu, who had already placed one foot into Kage-level strength.
Rolling to his feet, Fugaku glared at Ryuu in humiliation.
"Hmph. You don't know your place," Ryuu scoffed.
He quickly formed a hand seal.
A giant Great Fireball, over ten meters in diameter, shot toward Fugaku's Fire Dragon Jutsu.
In an instant, Ryuu's fireball completely consumed Fugaku's jutsu and continued surging toward him.
"Impossible!" Fugaku exclaimed as he barely managed to escape using the Body Flicker Technique. The place he had been standing on moments ago was reduced to scorched earth, with a massive crater left in its wake.
Fugaku's face twisted in disbelief. He had used a B-rank jutsu, Fire Style: Dragon Fire Technique, while Ryuu had only used the C-rank Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique—a technique considered basic for Uchiha.
Yet, Ryuu's attack had utterly crushed his.
"Lord Ryuu's power is far beyond someone like Fugaku. Only Lord Ryuu deserves to be the patriarch!" Sasuke Uchiha declared with unwavering respect.
His admiration for Ryuu stemmed from the latter's overwhelming strength. The Uchiha clan's greatest hope for a Kage-level powerhouse lay in Ryuu.
Ever since their legendary ancestor Madara Uchiha left the clan, the Uchiha had been in decline. For decades, they had failed to produce another Kage-level shinobi.
The current patriarch was merely at quasi-Kage level, and with the serious injuries he had sustained during the Second Great Ninja War, he likely did not have much longer to live.
Ryuu Uchiha moved, appearing in front of Fugaku Uchiha using the Body Flicker Technique, and drove his fist straight into Fugaku's abdomen.
Seeing the attack, Fugaku immediately activated his Three Tomoe Sharingan, but the moment he locked eyes with Ryuu, his body froze.
Ryuu had also activated his Three Tomoe Sharingan. Although they both possessed the same level of Sharingan, the difference in their ocular power was evident.
Despite being seven years older than Ryuu, Fugaku had awakened his Sharingan later and was far less adept at using it.
The genjutsu effect of Sharingan paralyzed Fugaku for less than a second—but that brief moment was enough. Ryuu's fist had already crashed into his abdomen.
Fugaku was sent flying more than ten meters, crashing through the walls of the Konoha Police Force's buildings.
Vomiting blood and on the verge of losing consciousness, Fugaku struggled to get up, but before he could, a foot suddenly loomed over him and slammed onto his head.
"Bang!"
His head was stomped into the dirt.
"You dare to challenge me? You really don't know your place."
Ryuu pressed down with more force, his foot distorting Fugaku's face.
"Captain is mighty!"
Sasuke Uchiha was thrilled to see Ryuu completely overpower Fugaku.
Until now, Ryuu had always shown disinterest in the Uchiha patriarch position, but this brutal takedown suggested otherwise. Was he finally making a move for leadership?
"We need to spread the word. Let the entire clan know that Fugaku has been crushed by Lord Ryuu and is unfit to be patriarch." Sasuke muttered to himself.
"Ryuu Uchiha, release Captain Fugaku!"
The shinobi loyal to Fugaku shouted in protest as they watched their leader being utterly humiliated.
Ryuu completely ignored them. If they weren't even willing to fight, they weren't worth his attention.
"Fugaku Uchiha attacked a fellow Konoha shinobi. Arrest him." Ryuu commanded Sasuke.
"Yes, Captain."
The moment Ryuu withdrew his foot, Sasuke gestured to a few shinobi, who promptly apprehended Fugaku and locked him up.
Fugaku's subordinates hesitated, exchanging uncertain glances. They wanted to act, but the overwhelming fear of Ryuu held them back.
"What should we do?"
"We have to inform the patriarch. Only he can handle this."
They couldn't fight Ryuu, so they opted to report the matter to the Uchiha patriarch instead.
At the Uchiha Clan Leader's Residence
"What did you just say?! Fugaku was captured by Ryuu Uchiha?!"
The Uchiha patriarch, though only in his fifties, looked as though he were in his seventies. His face twisted in rage.
"What is Ryuu Uchiha trying to do?!"
He suspected that Ryuu was making a bid for power—targeting his son to claim the position of Uchiha clan leader.
Right now, only two people had the qualifications to compete for the position of patriarch: Fugaku and Ryuu. It was impossible to believe that Ryuu had no ambitions for the title.
"And you just stood there while Fugaku was arrested?!"
The clan leader's furious gaze bore into the shinobi before him.
Lowering their heads, they remained silent. If it had been anyone else, they would have interfered.
But this was Ryuu Uchiha. Even Fugaku had been utterly defeated—what chance did they have?
More than that, it was fear. The rumors about Ryuu Uchiha's ruthlessness weren't just stories—they were reality.
