Good afternoon, my name is Melisa Crig, your well-known evening news reporter. This time I am living with a piece of extremely important news that the public needs to witness. I am at the scene where one of the branches of the Radar Company used to be located. By showing the camera that Creg took off his shoulder, you can see the names of the company. She indicated to Creg to zoom in on the location. She continued narrating: "Here is the building where this company operated, split in half." Apparently, a major experiment went wrong. She motioned to Greg to show the humanoid creature.
"It appears to be a kind of humanoid figure, half insect, half lion," from what we can observe. "It has a child in its torso with some sort of tentacles," she narrated while thinking, "Rita Ribs wasn't crazy after all." Maybe the things she said were real, and I can see they are. "What she mentioned about children being mistreated and used for experiments and animals was all true," she questioned herself. "There's no doubt that everything is real." This is for you, Rita. I believe they silenced you; you didn't go to work for another company. I'm going to find out, and here is the proof.
A small flashback could be seen from Melisa. She remembered a scared and nervous woman, dressed in jeans and a turquoise blouse, moving from side to side, looking distressed while searching for some papers. It was Rita. Melisa, who was a novice back then and was only given news about festivals and trivial things, observed from her cubicle, situated in an elevated position from where she could see Rita. She decided to leave her cubicle and started walking down the stairs, catching her attention.
"Are you okay?" Melisa asked with a worried voice.
Rita looked at her and then lowered her gaze, visibly tense. In a trembling voice, she said:
"Girl, don't take another step." I don't want you to come near me. "I'm fine," but I don't want you to have any relationship with me. "They could be watching me, and I don't want you to get hurt," said Rita in a strong but emotional voice.
Melisa watched as Rita left the place, apparently with tears in her eyes that she tried to hide with her forearm while opening the door with her other hand to leave the office. As she walked away, she whispered:
"I'm sorry, but it's for the best."
Melisa didn't know it, but she sensed it. She knew it was the last day she would see Rita alive. What she really couldn't know was that Rita had been saved, since there were undercover Zeus personnel in the news agency who were tracking the expert reporter and would silence anyone who was part of her information network and friends. That's why, in the last few months, Rita distanced herself from everyone, even her boss, to whom she didn't say much.
Days later, nothing more was heard from her. Melisa's boss received a letter supposedly from Rita, indicating that she was not going to return to the newscast and had found something better. Rita was an adventurer who always liked to follow clues and get to the truth, no matter what. It was one of the reasons why Melisa decided to continue in the field of journalism, despite the dangers it entails.
Back in the present, they continued showing the images of Urion, although they didn't know the name of the guardian.
"We need to get closer, so the audience can better appreciate it," she suggested.
"Are you crazy?" Creg said to Melisa. "Look, that thing is killing everything in its path—people, machines, yes—but the car cameras and the one you have with you don't have much range, and the images aren't very clear and come out very distant," she replied as the viewers watched the horrendous scene.
"These scenes can be a bit sensitive for the audience." "I recommend watching them accompanied by an adult," she began to say.
Some people watching the broadcast began to think it was a lie or some kind of setup. Others watched the scene in horror. Some wrote things in the live chat, like "I don't believe it's true; it's definitely a setup," "Those are extraterrestrials; they're among us, and it looks like they're abducting minors because of Aiden, who is tied to Urion," and others indicated that the company should be investigated. A series of messages like this appeared. People commented, and there was a dispute between believers and skeptics, although most said that if it were real, they should get closer to see the face of that thing.
The boss called her, and she put him on the earpiece. It was a separate line, so the audience wouldn't hear the conversation.
"Yes, boss," she answered.
He said he was surprised by the news, but also shocked by the audience numbers they had. They had never reached such levels since Rita, he added.
"One thing, I'm not sure if it's wise, but could you...?" her boss asked.
"What are you implying, boss?" she asked immediately.
Well, could you get closer? "People are starting to question what they see, whether it's real or not."
Melisa looked at Creg, who didn't want to move forward because he was scared. She looked at him twice and smiled. Then she told her boss:
"Yes, okay, I'll get closer."
Creg slapped his palm against his forehead in disapproval, but he had no choice but to follow her to cover the story.
Melisa instructed the doctor to stay in the car with the others and to keep making plans or showing images. Ian knows a bit about that, she indicated, while moving forward with Creg towards where that monster was.
They continued covering the events as they advanced when they saw the creature approach an adult man with two people behind him.
"I don't know," said Creg. "It seems like Zeus, the owner of Radar," he shared the information with Melisa.
"Do you think so?" she replied, beginning to narrate again into the microphone. "We have Mr. Zeus, apparently at the mercy of this abomination of nature that wants to kill him."
At that moment, the creature lifted the child it had by its side and raised him towards one of its hands, which had turned into what looked like a scythe.
"Oh no!" "Poor child!" she said, covering her face with her hand to avoid seeing it, and the entire audience was also shocked to see that they were about to kill the little one, posting emojis of anger and disgust. "Zoom in more," she indicated to Creg as they both hid behind a rock, a few meters from Zeus and company.
The mother superior was in her office, talking to Jeff on her landline phone about Aiden's case, when Sister Elsa, her right hand, ran in, nerves on edge and cellphone in hand.
"What is it?" she asked Elsa.
"Mother, look, it's something dreadful," Elsa responded.
The mother superior took the remote and turned on the television, tuning into the news channel.
When the television turned on, the mother superior was shocked to see Aiden on TV, but not for a good reason. She dropped the phone and exclaimed:
"Oh my goodness!" and fainted.
Jeff, on the other hand, didn't know what was happening.
"Well," Mother, Mother, Mother Superior, well, Mother Superior, Ana, are you there? "What happened?" Jeff said before Tecro entered and decided to turn on the television.
