-There's something wrong with this, though. - Said Pierce preparing another breakfast for Emma who had just come out of the shower.

-I don't know, I like it. - Emma said, leaning against Ryan and kissing him on the cheek.

-Okay, let's put this conversation aside and get back to yesterday's topic, what did you decide? - Unable to resist the charms of such a powerful mutant temptress Pierce stopped his not particularly loud mumbling and moved on to a more important topic.

-Which is? The one we discussed before or after you jumped me? - Emma asked with as honest and puzzled a face as possible.

-Do.

-Well, I don't know. - As if thinking about it, the girl said.

-Emma, I'm serious.

-Well, okay, but what do you want from me? I have an extremely busy schedule and I don't think I can find a few hours a week for fist-fighting. - Stopping her clowning around, the girl replied seriously.

-It might save your life when you run into a man beyond your strength. Or do you think I'm the only one who's completely immune to your power? I've told you about the masters of mentalism among mages, and not all of them have high moral standards and honour their oaths to protect the Earth dimension. - Pierce said seriously.

-Don't get me started on all this magic stuff, it makes my head swell. First they blow my brains out on the slave-" Frost hesitated, noticing Pierce's maximally sceptical look. -Let's say I get my brains blown out at work, but that's hard work too, for your information. Anyway, I come home and there you are about other dimensions full of monsters and demons. I'd tell you something interesting, like how to twist your arm and open portals, but here. - Putting her head on the table sadly said the girl.

-I mean that you have little experience with those who have protection from telepathy and while you will break mental labyrinths or worse you will be killed several times. Many renegade mages have chosen the mercenary path and are quite dangerous opponents. - Said Rain putting the dishes on the table.

-I can go on the defensive. - Replied the girl, turning her skin into a diamond.

-Yes? - Sceptically said Pierce, and then put a light spatial barrier around the girl, which began to pump out the air from inside. Before Emma could feel the intense suffocation Rain removed the barrier.

-It is not necessary to harm with brute force, mages always relied on intelligence, after all most of their opponents were often stronger. One spatial barrier with enough energy for a not particularly talented student, and you're dead. - Pierce said to the dumbfounded girl, of course he didn't mention that such a barrier could only be made by a master or someone who had been in contact with a space stone, and because of its strength, it would be broken by one or two blows from Emma's diamond fists. The main thing for Rain was that he had achieved his goal of showing the girl the danger of constant dependence on the powers of his mutation and the belief in its infallibility.

-And how will a well-placed blow help me against such a thing? - Frost asked mockingly.

-A properly placed blow will help you knock out your attacker, and my artefacts to reach or that I much more actively advise in case of danger, to escape. Or did you think my gift from yesterday was a simple piece of jewellery? - Pierce asked with a smile.

-Wasn't it? What can it do? - Rejoicing at the additional functions of the pleasant presentation asked the girl.

-In case of a threat with a high pulse rate he will create a defence on you, which can withstand the explosion of a couple of grenades or several shots from a large-calibre sniper rifle at one point. It also automatically casts a stasis spell on your body for ten minutes in case you are mortally wounded. Of course, you can activate the defence at any time just by saying the word "protego". It only has two charges and I will need to refill it again after use. The charge will last for at least a year, then you'd better bring it to me for re-filling losses. - Under the burning gaze of the girl who realised the beauty of such a "trinket" finished Pierce.

-Thank you. - Frost joyfully rushed to hug Pierce, rewarding the guy with a few kisses and a satisfied smile.

-So, can you find a few hours a week? - Asked a satisfied Pierce.

-I will, but you'll give me another one of these pendants for my birthday. - After stating her terms, the girl agreed.

-Why do you need another one, they will conflict in case of simultaneous activation? - Perplexed asked Rain, after which his face gained a meaningful look. -You want to give the second one to Christian. - Rather asserting than asking, Pierce said.

-Yes, and you still haven't told me who will teach me? - Emma confirmed Raina's guess, and then asked the question that had been on her mind.

-Oh, I think you'll appreciate her skills. - Pierce smiled enigmatically.***

To my surprise, the vampires had been around for hundreds of years, but they couldn't train their staff properly, or didn't want to, and the defences on their systems were mediocre. Of course, they had paid a lot of money for the most sophisticated sample, but they didn't seem to care about the fact that any well-to-do hacker could get access to such samples, which remained unchanged. But if you think about it, what were they afraid of? There are no cameras on the upper floors, where most of the heads meet, and ordinary clerks, most of whom got a day off today, are not doing anything reprehensible. And they probably haven't even thought about using their defence system to attack them. The system itself is based on sealing the building, cutting off most offices and every floor. They even jam the communication jammer and cut off all communication to all floors below the fifteenth floor. Logically, only a suicidal person would lock themselves in a building with a bunch of vampires, including a few ancient ones over seven hundred to eight hundred years old.

I was wearing a military waistcoat, stuffed with a bunch of nasty bloodsucker weaponry. On the sides hung a pair of pistols with modifications for rapid-fire. On my back hung an assault rifle, and in my pockets were a dozen blood-fuelled atomiser bombs. I needed to make sure the vampires on the upper floors didn't decide to run away or somehow call for help too quickly, so I decided to play a regular hunter with a very good arsenal and only after reaching the third floor, having previously cleaned the previous ones from small things, I activate the defence mode.

Leaving the possibility of video surveillance and internal communication, I completely cut off contacts with the outside world and throwing on a cloak I entered the building from the back door. It took a second to open the electronic lock, having already hacked into the system. Once inside, I threw off the cloak leaving only a small mask over the lower part of my face going up to my eyes. The guard at the lift didn't even have time to react and was immediately shot in the head. Each of the magazines they had taken with them were loaded with flame-hardened bullets with a supplement for bursting inside the target, so even a hit to the stomach could be fatal to a vampire if you didn't get at least half of the shrapnel out quickly. The girl behind the counter of course heard the body drop and went to check, but as she rounded the corner she was immediately shot in the forehead and joined her colleague.

I didn't see a single vampire on the ground floor, but on the second floor there were seven, each of them quite weak and obviously had been turned only one or two years ago. I didn't want to torture and immobilise them, moreover, a hunter who didn't kill vampires would definitely raise a number of questions from the guards watching the recordings. And logically, a squad should have been sent down to me to eliminate the insolent human, but, unfortunately, the cameras responsible for this floor began to malfunction, and no matter how diligent vampires tried, nothing would work before half of my excursion on the third floor. For them, I went up to the second floor and became inaccessible for surveillance.

Leaving the corpses behind me, which had not managed to do anything, I went up to the third floor. There was already one strong chick who had come downstairs for some reason. After taking out three young ghouls, I was confronted by a three-hundred-year-old vampire. The furious guy of twenty-three-five years old came at me and dodged two queues and was close to me. Already smiling and imagining how he would torture the insolent hunter, the chick didn't even notice how I ripped out his heart and only a second later he realised that something was wrong and fell on his back. In the last seconds of his life he was in shock, because vampires were always known for their speed, and he didn't even notice the attack. The guy's speed was around seven hundred points, and I was giving out two thousand points with the increase in time. Of course, I couldn't let such a useful creature die for nothing, so after a moment a syringe of blood was shoved into the guy, increasing his agony for a few minutes, while I immediately began to absorb life from the ghoul. Five minutes later, he crumbled to ashes before I could finish the job. Having failed to get the next level of demonic blood from the vampire, I got up and took out my tablet and activated the security cameras, setting the timer for three minutes. That's how long it would take for the building to become completely cut off from the world by a multitude of armoured plates and to be split into completely separate floors.

As I expected in a minute the bracelet on my arm signalled the activation of the cargo lift on the top floor. It seemed that the guards had decided not to trifle with it, and after assessing the many piles of ashes on the floors, they immediately called in a team of cleaners. A dozen vampires per person is a bit too much, but it seems that with age everyone understands that "it's better to be too careful than too little", especially when you have all the important people and in case of failure you will get your head blown off.Complete lockdown of the building and loss of all cameras was quite shocking for the guards, but they couldn't warn the squad and thanks to my direct control the guys calmly descended to the fourth floor, which turned out to be empty and stopped staring at the lift sashes opened only ten centimetres, in which my first grenade flew in seconds later. I wasn't surprised to hear a set of "kind" words in response to my gift, but after the device was activated, the screaming stopped abruptly, and the vampires seemed to be well loaded with the reason why the hunter had decided to feed them before the collision. Such military developments were available to a rather small number of undead fighters, and the rest of the gang used cancer blood only as a way of torturing the captured bloodsucker and nobody used it in battle.

In a minute, the lift doors slid open and the bloodsuckers came out of the lift, not so angry but still wary. I did not want to prolong the fight and continue playing the role of a simple hunter, I threw the machine gun on my back and turned immediately, doubled the speed of the flow of time for myself. Leaping out from around the corner, I used my howl on the maximally sensory-focused bloodsuckers. My howl deafened half of the arriving squad, while the others were more tolerant of the sonic attack and only covered their eyes for a moment. But that was enough time for me to use acceleration, so when I got to the first one I used metamorphism to extend my claws and cut off its arms with a single swing. A pair of spatial shards I'd collected a moment ago were launched at the second, held behind me by telekinesis. They punctured the vampire's heart and pierced its spine, depriving the bloodsucker of control over its lower body.

The vampire that was coming at me, I simply blew his head off on reflexes and stepped aside, missing the attack of the fourth. While the rest of them were coming to their senses and were about to attack, I used the howl again, but this time at the same time capturing the vampire who had appeared behind me and thought I was distracted. When I was in the centre of the sound wave, blood spurted from the vampire's ears and he collapsed a few seconds later. Throwing the unconscious body aside, I reactivated the acceleration and throwing forward the energy paths that bound some of the stunned bloodsuckers for a few moments, I took away the limbs of most of the members of the descending squad.

As I approached the last one, I simply grabbed him by the neck and lifted him off the ground, but he was about to be knocked unconscious by my swing. After standing there for a couple of seconds, I realised that I had unknowingly activated intimidation during the fight and by applying the effect of the skill to the almost instantaneous meat grinder I had achieved such a strange reaction of the bloodsucker.

After half an hour, I finally broke away from the last body and smiled as I saw the notification that the blood power level had been raised.
