Saturday I picked up Frost and after picking up the girl we headed to the first place we had planned.

-And where are we going? - With faintly expressed interest, the girl asked.

-An amusement park. - Pierce replied with a slight smile.

-Emm, okay. - The girl stopped talking and the car fell into a long silence. Raine knew too little about the girl to start a conversation about the things that mattered most to her, and she herself was already in the habit of not showing interest in Pierce's person. Over the years Frost had developed a reflex which, when conversing with strangers, put her into a detachedly cold state.

Emma could see that the answer had surprised her. Perhaps she was expecting something exclusive, but just thinking about all sorts of clubs or other places for "high society" I couldn't find it worthwhile to have a date there. Firstly, Emma could visit all these places herself, her finances easily allow it, but she would never go to a simple amusement park, it's not her status. And if my knowledge of many variations of this girl's fate is even 30% true in this world, then in her childhood she was never taken here, and in her teenage years she was not a very popular person and there was no one to go to such places with her. After the institute she immediately piled on a mountain of affairs of the newly created company and the best years of her life were spent behind papers and social evenings where you can meet potential shareholders. In such places, as you understand, the contingent was not particularly pleasant, and the girl most likely had time to see such that her faith in humanity could shoot herself a couple of dozen times, and then doused herself with petrol and threw a lit match and hanged herself on a steel rope.

Worlds can change quite easily and the foundations of society can be quite opposite, but those who are at the top will never be saints. Five years of digging around in the heads of such individuals is likely what made Emma put on the mask of complete indifference that confirms her surname. She had learnt to hide her contempt and disgust, and it seemed she hadn't noticed that in time she had begun to hide all other emotions as well.

When we got to the park, we first just decided to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. Telepaths would do well in such places where positive thoughts prevailed. After walking around, we finally made our way to the first rides, where the girl started to show more obvious emotions. After a couple of rides we bought ice cream and decided to sit on a bench. There Emma decided to start a conversation.

-Say something about yourself, because you've already heard about me. - Emma started to demand an answer with a firm look, but by the end of the sentence she remembered the circumstances of her last meeting and looked away a little embarrassed.

-Well, I have my own company, nothing serious yet, of course, but it has some good prospects. What I usually do, well, I can shoot (at people) or drive off-road (dropping the tail). I know how to pilot a plane, but my friends don't often like to fly with me for some reason. I also have occasional film nights. I'm also a bit of a mystic (I can summon a demon) and a pretty good cook. - Pierce finished listing his passions with a smile.

Emma was halfway through Raina's answer when she heard the next entertainment. She didn't notice how in Pierce's presence she was no longer controlling her mask of indifference and was expressing her emotions more and more honestly.

Walking around the amusement park we had a good time. During this time it was mostly just me talking about myself, but I didn't mind it too much. A couple of stories from my childhood lifted Emma's spirits quite well and I even managed to get her to smile a few times. I'll tell you, when a face that didn't show much emotion an hour ago shows such a radiant smile, it's heartwarming and heartwarming. In three hours we had walked round most of the park, and it was getting a bit boring.

Finished with the park, we decided to walk to the restaurant. The half hour walk would help work up my appetite a little more, and it was also just nice. As we walked I told some more stories from Rain's childhood and my past life. To be honest most of the stories were just from my childhood, but there wasn't much to tell about Rain. His childhood was too... empty. Sure, a lot of toys made him happy, but the almost complete absence of his father had an unfavourable effect on his character. As time went on, he became more and more insolent, out of control and indifferent to others. But after his father announced the end of his childhood/beginning of training the child was quickly beaten out of him.

He lost all of his newly conceived arrogance and became more chilled out on the home turf. Somewhere inside he hoped that by being the perfect student he would be able to gain his father's recognition. But the years went by and Alexander was still as cold. No amount of perfect grades and excellent feedback from teachers about the teenager gave Pierce the results he needed. Back then in the hospital I couldn't appreciate Alexander's expression on his face, but now, knowing his past attitude, it was not just a step forward, but a demolition of a wall a hundred metres thick. Perhaps it was the possibility of losing his son that affected Pierce Elder, or maybe it was just a coincidence of many things, but after my appearance in this body, I no longer saw that detached expression on my new father's face. And with everything that's happened to me because of Alexander's concern, I can't even tell if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

-Ay. - Rubbed Raine's side where a woman's elbow had hit him a second ago.

-Inviting a girl out on a date, and you're in the clouds somewhere. - Looking Pierce in the eye, Frost said.

-I'm sorry.

-Okay, I forgive you for the first time, but if you still... - Pierce didn't let her finish, he sharply grabbed Emma, who let out a surprised squeak from such impudent actions and was about to push the guy away. But the next moment a bullet flew in the way of her previous location. Having realised that it was necessary to get away from such a well-viewed place Pierce picked up the girl in his arms, still dazed by such a sharp threat of death, and at quite a weighty speed ran towards the nearest corner. The sniper tried to eliminate the target several more times, but at every moment of aiming Raine felt the danger and sharply changed his location and dodged the bullet. Pierce ran the last three hundred metres without that unpleasant itch in the back of his head that warned of danger, but being on a light adrenaline he didn't notice it and the system icon that flashed in the corner of his vision remained unseen. But the mercenary, sitting nine hundred metres away from Pierce's current location, was extremely puzzled and even a little scared in the first seconds when he heard Smash Into Pieces - All Eyes On You playing in his head.

-Are you okay? - Pierce asked, pulling the girl down from his arms.

-Yes...thanks, damn his underlings. - Said the girl, grabbing Ryan's arm and hiding with him behind the car from the grey van that drove by. All the while the van was driving down the street where they were Frost kept her eyes on the van.

-Are you sure about this? - Pierce asked, sensing six or seven people in the van and hearing the click of magazines being inserted.

-No, it's probably just me. I was just too nervous. - The girl replied, but Pierce heard the van come to a stop around the corner and a series of quiet shots rang out inside.

-Okay, now what?

-When you picked me up I dropped my phone so can you let me use yours? - asked the girl with her head spinning.

-Yeah, here you go. - Pierce held out his mobile phone.

-Thank you. - Emma instantly dialled the number and a man's voice came out of the receiver.

-Anyone who is this?

-Christian, it's me. - Said Emma in a slightly agitated voice. Even though she wanted to appear almost unscared in front of Pierce, Pierce could tell from the sound of her heart beating frantically that this attempt on her life had not gone unnoticed.

-Oh, how's the date going and why are we calling from someone else's phone? Have you dishonoured the boy yet? - There were questions from a man who was clearly having a good time. But the girl's excitement evaporated at once and her red face reflected the highest degree of rage mixed with a slight embarrassment.

-I'll kill you someday! - The girl literally hissed into the phone. -And now you piece of snide imbecile quickly sent men and a car after me, I've just been tried to be killed.

-Where are you? - Christian's voice immediately lost all the fun and was clearly filled with worry.

-I have a flat ten minutes away, we can wait there. - Seeing the girl start to look at the signs on the street said Pierce.

She looked at Raina with an unreadable look and paused for a couple of seconds, then nodded gratefully to Pierce and gave the address of the flat to her brother and hung up the phone.

It took us only ten minutes to get to my flat. Once inside, Emma looked around.

-What were you expecting, a high-rise penthouse? - Pierce asked with a smile, watching the girl's amused reaction to a rather ordinary flat, maybe just a little above middle-class.

-No, it's just that it's kind of... -The girl hesitated to answer.

-Tight? - With a smile, the guy suggested an option.

-Yeah, I mean, no. It's standard. - The girl finally gave out, puzzling Pierce with her answer. Ryan could not understand whether he should be offended by this statement or not. Pierce's brain was saved from continuing to evaluate the answer by the dog barking at the crumb, which was extremely aggressive against the girl. It would seem that an animal reacts this way to a stranger, but in the case of Frost everything was a little different. It was just a coincidence of the girl's love for the colour white, her rather beautiful trouser suit and the phobia of Rain's four-legged friend.

-Hmm, he doesn't like me? - The girl asked with a slight resentment, looking at one of the cutest creatures she had ever met in her life.

-It's not you, it's just that he doesn't like the colour white, and you look like a red rag to a bull in his eyes. - Said Pierce, moving closer so as not to shout over the rather sonorous barking of the miniature dog.

-Okay, next time I'll wear different colours. - With some strange determination the girl said.

-Oh, so we'll have a next time? - Going to the kitchen and turning round at the girl's phrase with a smile asked Pierce.

-I can't thank the man who saved my life. - Said the girl.

-Yes? -And the looks thrown at Tiny have nothing to do with it? - Continuing to grin asked Ryan.

-Tz, got it. - Said the girl and then smiled back at Ryan.

While Emma was trying to find an approach to the dog, and Krosha was preparing to fight to the death, I went to the kitchen. Fast food and fast food, of course, are delicious, but eating only them will not live long, plus after pumping my skill I cooked a couple of seemingly ordinary dishes and was pleasantly surprised by their taste. So after cooking a lot last night, I saved a few for tonight. And since we have no more than 15-20 minutes before Emma's people arrive and the plans for the restaurant are over, I decided to warm up my creations and make myself and the girl happy with a tasty and quick dinner.

-To the table, please. - Said Pierce, finishing serving and distracting Emma from her attempts to catch Tiny without being bitten back. He realised that after what had happened, the girl needed a release, and the dog needed a couple of extra moves to shed the fat that had already started to appear.

-Did you order from the restaurant? - Asked Frost approached the beautiful plates filled with delicious smelling dishes.

-No, I cooked it myself. - Proudly replied Ryan.

-Tasty. - Emma said with a surprised look, tasting a piece of steak and looking at the guy who had surprised her more than once today.

Ryan and Emma spent the rest of the meal in silence. When Pierce's phone rang he realised that Emma had been picked up. Picking up the phone, he confirmed his thoughts.

-Take care. - Said Pierce as he saw the girl off.

-"You know, next Saturday, I'll be free too. - Said the girl and before the lift doors closed, she poked her head out for a second and kissed Pierce on the lips.

-Life just keeps getting better and better. - Said Pierce, and then a call came from his jeans pocket and Pierce saw the Shield logo on the screen of the pulled out phone.
