Chapter 223 - Chapter 223: Vs Bugsy!

"Your first gym, do well." Gary saw that he was being underestimated, so he threw out the Poké Ball without saying much.

Since he was underestimated, he would use his strength to prove it to the other party.

Great!

"Mara!"

Weavile, who had a ferocious face, appeared.

"Weavile... Don't you know that Dark-type Pokémon are restrained by Bug-type Pokémon?" Bugsy asked.

"Although you are restrained by type, type advantage does not mean that you will definitely win," Gary said.

It's not that Gary doesn't want to send out other Pokémon, but the Pokémon he has now, except Weavile, can defeat all of Bugsy's Pokémon in seconds.

"Then let me see the strength of your Weavile," Bugsy said.

"Okay!" Gary smiled confidently and immediately ordered: "Weavile, use Ice Shard."

Weavile condensed ice in front of its mouth, and the ice turned into Ice Shard, which flew quickly towards Spinarak.

Spinarak immediately spat out a ball of String Shot to block Ice Shard.

Gary didn't know where Bugsy got the confidence from. He actually used String Shot to defend against Ice Shard. He was too confident.

The String Shot fell on the Ice Shard, but it didn't stop the Ice Shard.

Instead, it was cut by the edges of the Ice Shard and all fell on Spinarak, knocking it several meters away.

"What!"

Bugsy was shocked. He didn't expect Spinarak's String Shot to not stop the opponent's attack.

"Don't give Spinarak a chance to counterattack, use Faint Attack!" Gary ordered.

Whoosh!

Weavile rushed towards Spinarak quickly, without giving Spinarak a chance to react, and knocked it out.

Bang!!

Spinarak fell to the ground, its eyes spinning.

"Spinarak loses its ability to fight, Weavile wins!" said the referee.

The Spinarak sent by Bugsy was only level 22, while Weavile was level 36. The gap between the two was too big, and they were not at the same level at all.

Of course, this is also because Bugsy is the gym leader, and the first Pokémon he uses is meant to test the strength of the challenger.

From this point of view, the gym trainers in the Johto Region are very responsible.

However, a big part of the relationship is that the above is too positive, because Lance is not only the Johto Region Champion, but also a Pokémon researcher, who secretly stopped Team Rocket's plans and is considered the most responsible of all the champions.

The reason why Team Rocket in the anime fell so quickly is that Lance has made a lot of efforts.

"Spinarak, come back and rest." Bugsy took back Spinarak and said: "It seems that you are not a rookie trainer, but you didn't say it alone."

"You didn't ask," Gary said.

"Okay, I'm going to be serious next. The Pokémon I'm going to send out next is my main force." Bugsy waved his hand, threw out the Poké Ball, and said: "Go, Scyther!"

Great!

A green figure appeared on the field. It was a Scyther. The sickles of this Scyther were shining with a metallic luster.

Obviously, this pair of sickles is often polished and very sharp.

[LV35 Scyther / Quasi-Elite]

"Bugsy, the gym leader, you should have Heracross. Why do you use Scyther? It is restrained by Weavile," Gary said.

The main Pokémon in the hands of each gym leader are basically the Pokémon unique to the region.

The Bug-type Pokémon unique to the Johto Region is naturally Heracross, and Bugsy's trump card Pokémon should also be Heracross.

"I didn't expect you to know all the Pokémon I have. It seems you are well prepared," Bugsy said. "I do have Heracross, but it's not on me right now."

"I see, let's get started," Gary said. "Weavile, use Ice Shard."

Hearing the command, Weavile used Ice Shard, and several Ice Shards quickly shot at Scyther.

Scyther was not panicked at all and used Slash to split all the Ice Shards in two.

Then Scyther's Dual Wingbeat unfolded, revealing transparent insect wings, and quickly rushed towards Weavile, swinging its sickles to chop.

Weavile waved its claws to fight back, and the sickles and claws kept colliding. Every collision would create sparks.

The characteristics of both sides were similar, and both were fast attackers, so it was difficult to tell the winner for a while.

"Keep your distance and use Icy Wind," Gary ordered.

"Don't let Weavile do it, use Double Team!" Bugsy shouted immediately, and Scyther immediately split into clones.

Weavile was also confused. After it evolved, its ability became a sense of oppression, and it was no longer possible to distinguish its true form.

"Don't panic, use Taunt," Gary said.

"Mara! Mara!!"

Weavile taunted, and the Scyther clones were broken by the curse. Its eyes were bloodshot, and its clones disappeared in anger.

Only Scyther itself was left, staring at Weavile.

"Fury Cutter!" Because of the influence of Taunt, Bugsy could only bite the bullet and attack.

"Use Night Slash after Hone Claws," Gary said.

Weavile's claws rubbed against each other a few times, and then dark red energy covered the claws as Weavile rushed towards Scyther.

Bang!!

"Wow!!"

After the clash, Scyther was shocked. Its sickle was bounced back by a huge force. Weavile's other claw aimed at Scyther's thin waist and stabbed.

Bang!!!

Scyther flew backward and rolled on the ground several times before stopping. Scyther, who stood up, was already struggling to survive.

"Oh, did you hit the vital point?" Seeing Scyther's miserable state, Gary judged that Night Slash had hit Scyther's vital point.

Night Slash has a higher chance of hitting the vital point than other moves. Hitting the vital point causes more damage than the damage caused by type-advantage moves.

"Mara!!"

Weavile also saw that Scyther was in trouble. With the confidence that it would hit, it ran towards Scyther, its claws covered with black light.

"Use Slash!" Bugsy also counterattacked immediately. He thought too much, but Scyther, who was hit by Taunt, could only use attacking moves.

"Zha!!"

"Mara! (Great!)"

The two Pokémon's figures intertwined, and the attack speed of both sides was too fast. No one could see clearly whether they hit or not.

"...!"

The next second, Scyther wailed, its legs lost strength, its body fell straight forward, and its eyes turned in circles.

"Scyther loses its ability to fight, Weavile wins!" said the referee.

Weavile successfully won two consecutive victories. In the previous challenge to the Azalea Gym, Heracross defeated three Pokémon with one shot.

Weavile had no chance to attack, which made Weavile very angry.

This time Gary started with Weavile, and Weavile decided to defeat three Pokémon with one shot, not giving other Pokémon a chance to play.

Bugsy took back Scyther and said, "Not bad, I recognize your strength, and the main event is next."

Although Bugsy became a gym leader at a young age, he obviously still had a childish mentality and some youthful and frivolous characteristics.
