Chapter 210 - Chapter 210: Heracross Forest

"The grandson of Professor Oak, I didn't expect Gary to have such an identity!" Vincent was surprised.

He had just picked a random person to battle, only to find out he was facing someone so significant.

"And Gary won the championship in the last Kanto League Conference. It's normal for you to lose to him," Professor Elm said.

"Kanto League Conference Champion...!"

Vincent and Jimmy exchanged glances. They hadn't known Gary's identity before. Now that they did, they realized they had been overestimating themselves.

"Gary has already won the League Conference Champion once. Why does he want to participate in the Silver Conference?" Marina asked, puzzled.

"Oh, Gary is also going to participate in the Silver Conference...!" Professor Elm was surprised. "Then you have to work hard and not lose to Gary."

"Professor, Gary has already won the League Conference Champion once. Vincent and Jimmy have just become Trainers. How can they be Gary's rivals?" Marina said.

"Who said we aren't rivals? It's just a battle. It can't determine the final victory or defeat," Vincent immediately retorted.

Although Vincent usually doted on Marina, he didn't indulge her on this issue.

"Yes, Gary has been a Trainer for a short time. Before the Silver Conference starts, we have plenty of time to train our Pokémon. We must defeat Gary," Jimmy's fighting spirit was ignited.

"Very good, then you must work hard. If you can beat Gary, it will indirectly prove that I am better than my teacher," Professor Elm said with great anticipation.

The Leagues in each region have commissioned these Professors to train Rookie Trainers.

Professor Elm naturally hopes that the Trainers he trains can become Pokémon Masters.

"Okay, Jimmy and I will work hard together."

"Yes, let's start by collecting all 8 badges."

Vincent and Jimmy regained their confidence and set a new goal: to defeat Gary.

...!

Afternoon.

After having lunch in New Bark Town and resting for a while, Gary continued to ride west, entering Route 29 and heading to Cherrygrove City.

Along the way, Gary paid attention to the Pokémon he encountered.

When he first started traveling, most of the Pokémon he encountered had ordinary and Quasi-Gym potential, and he didn't come across any with gym potential.

As for why Gary wanted to capture new Pokémon, in addition to the agreement with Ash, it was also to use up the extra low-level Rare Candy in his space backpack.

To maximize the benefits, Gary waited until the Pokémon reached level 27 before using low-level Rare Candy, and using 3 low-level Rare Candy could bring them to level 30.

After Pokémon reached level 30, low-level Rare Candy could no longer be used, resulting in 42 low-level Rare Candy left in the space backpack.

Since Pokémon above level 30 cannot use low-level Rare Candy, Gary planned to capture a few lower-level Pokémon in the Johto Region and use up these low-level Rare Candy.

Because of his experience challenging Kanto Region gyms, the quest rewards are determined based on the strength of the current gym leader.

The first few gyms weren't very challenging, so the Rare Candy rewards were definitely low-level.

So Gary continued to capture Pokémon with high potential and below level 30 to use up some low-level Rare Candy.

Unfortunately, he didn't encounter any Pokémon he liked along the way, as Gary would not capture Pokémon with potential below Quasi-Gym.

However, Gary was not unprepared. He planned to capture a Heracross. On the way to Cherrygrove City, he would pass by the Heracross Forest.

Ash's Heracross was captured in the Heracross Forest, and Gary also planned to capture one here.

It took 3 days for Gary to finally find the Heracross Forest.

He encountered many Bug-type Pokémon along the way, and the Bug-type Pokémon here were not afraid of people at all, and the forest was full of the smell of peace.

Because the Bug-type Pokémon living in the Heracross Forest all suck tree sap, they do not fight each other for food.

The only thing you need to be on guard against is the bird Pokémon.

- [LV16 Heracross♂/Quasi-Gym]

...!

- [LV20 Heracross♀/Gym]

...!

"None of them will work," Gary shook his head slightly. He did meet quite a few Heracross along the way, but none of them satisfied him.

"Huh? Why are the trees withered here?" Gary was puzzled. The Rocket trio shouldn't be here, so this shouldn't be happening.

In the plot of Ash's travel route, they came to the Heracross Forest and found that the trees were withered because Team Rocket temporarily occupied the Pinsir's habitat, causing the Pinsirs to run to the Heracross's territory to grab tree sap to eat.

Because Heracross is a gentle Pokémon, facing the invasion of Pinsir, it chose to give in and finally could only absorb the sap of those abnormal trees, which led to the tree withering.

But now Ash and his friends have not yet reached New Bark Town. After all, walking and traveling are still much slower than Gary riding a mountain bike.

Even if Team Rocket took action in advance, it shouldn't be at this time. This also shows that the withering of the trees is not caused by Team Rocket, but other reasons.

"I want to see what's going on."

Gary thought it was interesting and continued to walk deeper into the forest. If he wanted to find the reason, he only needed to go to the area with the most sap secretion.

The sap production of the Heracross Forest, with the number of Heracross here, would not cause a large number of trees here to wither.

As he walked deeper into the forest, Gary saw more Heracross and even found two Heracross with quasi-elite potential.

However, these two Heracross with quasi-elite potential were not to Gary's liking, but one other then them attracted his attention.

On a tree nearly ten meters high and so thick that three or four adults holding hands could only hug it, a Heracross was lying on the trunk sucking sap.

The key is that the skin of this Heracross is different from other Heracross.

The skin of this Heracross is black, while the skin of normal Heracross is dark blue.

Because Heracross has a Mega Evolution form, Gary naturally noticed the color of Heracross's Shiny form.

The normal Shiny Heracross is pink, and the Shiny Heracross in front of him is black.

Under the sunlight, the hard skin of this Heracross is shining with a metallic luster, and its defense ability is very strong.
