Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: Is There Giant Monster Excrement In The Brain?

By mid-October, David still maintained his habit of going to the Room of Requirement every day to practice.

He had already returned the mouse, Peter Pettigrew, to Ronald.

After weeks of intense training, his progress was quite evident.

David had finally mastered Fiendish Flame. He could now summon and control it with absolute precision. Even if he unleashed a massive firestorm, he could extinguish it instantly with a single thought.

Additionally, Potions and Alchemy had been added to his panel, and his skills had improved significantly across the board.

If he were to face Dumbledore now, he would still lose.

However, if he had to fight a top-tier wizard like Snape—who specialized in dark magic and combat—he felt confident he could hold his ground.

The Rise of the Business Empire

David's once-empty coin pouch had now become heavy with gold.

In a little over a month, his cumulative sales had exceeded 700 bottles. It might not sound like much, but considering Hogwarts' population, it was impressive.

With each year only having about 70 students, and the entire school barely over 500, selling that many bottles was remarkable.

Priced at five Galleons per bottle, his potion wasn't exactly cheap. And let's be honest, not everyone could afford it—right, Weasleys?

Among all the houses, Slytherin contributed the most to his sales.

As the stronghold of pure-blood families, Slytherin students had wealth to spare. The sales in that single house nearly matched the combined purchases of the other two.

David had Cassandra to thank for that. Despite being only a first-year student, she had strong family backing and great influence in Slytherin.

Of course, she didn't handle sales personally. Instead, she assigned two younger students to do it for her.

Oddly enough, Cassandra never asked for a cut of the profits. She only had one condition—David had to agree to a duel with her at a time of her choosing.

Naturally, he agreed without hesitation.

However, weeks had passed, and Cassandra had yet to issue her challenge.

An Unwanted Confrontation

One afternoon, after borrowing some books from the Hogwarts library, David was on his way back to the Ravenclaw common room when he was suddenly blocked by five Slytherin students.

The leader, an arrogant fourth-year, stepped forward and sneered.

"You're David Adrian?"

David raised an eyebrow at the unnecessary dramatics.

"Yeah. And who the hell are you?"

He made no effort to hide his disdain. These guys were clearly looking for trouble.

School bullies? Really?

Did they think he'd be intimidated?

If anything, he was just disappointed. If they wanted to pick a fight, they should at least make it interesting.

The leader narrowed his eyes at David's lack of respect.

"You've got quite the attitude for a first-year," he scoffed. "You think your little potions business makes you untouchable? Someone needs to teach you how to respect your seniors."

Before he could finish, one of his lackeys lost patience and pulled out his wand.

"That's enough talking, Barry! Let's just hex him and be done with it!"

David smirked. Ah. Classic.

This particular Slytherin, Harvey, was clearly at the bottom of the food chain in their little group.

Slytherin had an unspoken hierarchy—pure-bloods looked down on half-bloods, and half-bloods despised Muggle-borns.

Since Slytherin didn't accept Muggle-born students, half-bloods like Harvey were stuck at the very bottom.

Already burdened by his low status, being mocked by a Muggle-born first-year had shattered whatever tiny amount of self-esteem he had left.

Accusations and Mockery

Barry, the leader, sighed in frustration.

"Harvey, have you already forgotten our plan?"

The scolded student immediately backed down.

Barry then turned back to David, his voice dripping with self-righteous indignation.

"We're not here to fight. We're here to get back what you stole."

David folded his arms.

"Stole?"

Barry smirked.

"Hand over the formula for the Bafe Brain Refresher potion."

David stared at him for a moment, then burst out laughing.

"You think I stole your potion formula?"

Barry's face darkened.

"We know you did! There's no way a Muggle-born like you could have come up with something so valuable. You must have stolen it from one of our family books!"

Ah. So that was their angle.

Even if he reported this to Dumbledore, these idiots would just insist that he stole from them first. They were trying to frame him so they could claim the formula as their own.

It was an absurdly weak excuse.

But what really annoyed him was their sheer stupidity.

"Alright then," David said, his smirk widening. "If you claim this potion formula is yours, then you must already know the ingredients, right?"

The Slytherins froze.

David's eyes gleamed with amusement.

"Go on. Tell me the formula. What's in it? Or—" He tilted his head mockingly. "—is it possible that your brains are filled with troll feces, and you can't even remember your own potion?"

The color drained from their faces.

Because, of course, they had no idea what the actual formula was.

The entire common room knew David had developed the potion himself. He never bothered hiding it. If they wanted to claim credit, they should've at least done their homework first.

The Malfoy Connection

As David observed them struggling to come up with a response, he suddenly recalled something interesting.

These particular Slytherins were bottom-tier students—the ones nobody respected.

So why did they suddenly find the courage to try and rob him?

Then, he remembered.

Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle—Draco Malfoy's two brainless lackeys—had been snooping around a lot lately.

Apparently, they had approached this group with an offer.

They told them David was getting too much attention, overshadowing Slytherin's reputation.

So, they encouraged them to attack him and steal his potion.

Of course, Crabbe and Goyle didn't actually want the potion formula themselves. They were just using these idiots to cause trouble.

But because their families served the Malfoys, and the Malfoy family still held influence as a Hogwarts school board member, these Slytherins took the bait.

They actually believed that, with the Malfoys backing them, they could do whatever they wanted.

"You people are hilarious," David said, shaking his head. "Let me guess—Crabbe and Goyle sent you?"

The Slytherins flinched.

David smirked.

"Idiots."

Dumbledore, you really need to get better security for this school.
