As the pairing was concluded, each warrior turned to their newly assigned partner, engaging in conversation to establish their rapport. Bruno, however, found himself speaking with Hargun. His sharp gaze settled on the merchant-turned-contractor, curiosity flickering in his eyes.
"Hargun," Bruno started, crossing his arms. "You're with the People's Shop, aren't you? So why are you traveling with the Grimknights?"
Hargun let out a small chuckle, shaking his head. "Times have changed, Bruno. My caravan business hasn't been as profitable lately. Thieves, thugs, and all sorts of trouble have made trade routes more dangerous. My earnings were dwindling. So, I decided to switch to contract work. The People's Shop still covers that, after all, it still earns."
Bruno nodded, taking in the explanation. Before he could respond, the sound of a door creaking open silenced the room. Every head turned toward the entrance.
