Mahikan jolted awake as Nyx aggressively licked his face, the small creature's tongue warm and insistent. He groaned and sat up halfway, blinking as he noticed the camp was already in motion. Everyone was swiftly gearing up, their movements tense and precise. He turned his head as his father, Akaulo, approached him with urgency written all over his face.
"Mahikan, get up! We have to move, now!" Akaulo said, gripping his son's shoulder. "Men on horseback are approaching fast. They might be the same ones who attacked our people."
Mahikan's heart pounded as he shot to his feet. Wulf turned towards them and gave a sharp command. "Hide behind the boulder. Now. Don't come out unless I say so."
