Chapter 48 - Eevee the Versatile

"Hmph!"

Rika just snorted and scoffed, "You really are shameless... Whatever! Now's not the time to argue about this. Just make sure you take good care of Shizuka! Otherwise, you'll regret it!"

Then, she quickly changed the subject. "As for me? Obviously, I'm at the airport, protecting the rich and powerful as they escape from this place! Heh!" Her expression was cold and indifferent.

She let out a mocking chuckle before continuing, "The airport is practically locked down now—ordinary people can't get in. "

"There are still plenty of wealthy and influential people stranded here, and the military is scrambling to allocate planes to evacuate them.

"Why are you asking? Don't tell me you want to hop on a plane and leave?"

"I suggest you drop that idea and stay put in your estate with Shizuka!"

"I've seen your estate—pretty well set up. Plus, the fact that you got Shizuka home so quickly means you were prepared for this all along. I don't need to say more. That's it. I'm hanging up."

She really did have that military efficiency—swift and decisive.

Beep, beep, beep!

Listening to the disconnected tone, Renzo shook his head with a helpless smile. "That woman... She talks tough, but she's actually a good person. Can't let her die."

He had already made up his mind—he'd find a way to save her and bring her back.

He could use a good security captain.

And Rika was perfect for the job.

"Saeko! Shizuka! From now on, I'm going to teach you breathing techniques and meditation. The world has changed—you both need to become stronger!"

Handing the phone back to Shizuka, Renzo looked at the two women seriously.

"Eh?"

Before Saeko could respond, Shizuka excitedly pounced forward, her eyes sparkling. "You mean the ability you used before? The one where you just whoosh—disappeared in an instant? Can we really learn that too?!"

Saeko, equally intrigued, asked, "Even if we can, it won't be easy, right? That kind of ability clearly isn't simple."

"Also, Renzo-kun, when you talk about breathing techniques, do you mean something beyond traditional swordsmanship? Because I have a feeling your definition of kendo isn't the same as mine."

"You really are smart, Saeko! Come with me!"

Renzo chuckled, tapping the tip of her nose playfully before leading the two women to a massive underground training hall, where he began explaining everything.

Pokémon World

In the Sinnoh region, inside Professor Carolina's estate in Celestic Town...

A certain Eevee, lounging on a recliner, suddenly opened its eyes. A surge of power briefly flared around its body before vanishing in an instant.

The sheer intensity of it sent shivers down the spines of the Pokémon training nearby under the regimen set by both Eevee and Cynthia.

"Luooo!" (Eevee-boss just got stronger again?!)

"Mlooo!" (So jealous! It gets stronger even while lying down!)

"Garchaa!" (Unacceptable! That guy got stronger again! No way—I need to train harder! If this keeps up, when will I ever surpass it?!) Garchomp clenched its jaws in determination.

Even Cynthia, who had been meditating with the breathing technique, noticed.

"Eevee! You broke through again?"

She immediately paused her training, walked over, and scooped Eevee into her arms, gently stroking its head while curiously asking.

Her Eevee was, without a doubt, the most unique one she had ever encountered.

Not only was its talent unparalleled, but it also possessed countless mysteries. The most incredible part? Its terrifying intelligence.

Cynthia was certain—Eevee was far smarter than most humans.

Even her grandmother, Professor Carolina, had claimed that Eevee's IQ far surpassed human limits.

Especially after Eevee developed its own meditation technique—one that not only worked for itself but also improved upon the human version.

Thanks to Eevee, even people like Cynthia—who had no special talent for psychic abilities—were now able to develop them through daily training.

And the progress wasn't slow at all.

But the true game-changer was the breathing technique and its corresponding sword forms.

In just half a year, Cynthia had gone from an ordinary girl to someone who could battle elite-level Pokémon head-on.

What kind of god-tier Eevee was this?

Even legendary Pokémon weren't known to do such things!

At least, not as far as human history had recorded...

All in all, her Eevee was practically the God of Eevees.

"Eevee!"

Eevee let out a playful cry, enjoying Cynthia's affectionate strokes as it transmitted a thought to her telepathically.

"Yep! Not sure how, but I broke through again! Sigh... If this keeps up, I'll reach Champion-level soon! It's such a headache! I'm becoming too strong—how will I ever relate to the others?!"

That level of humility? Straight-up Versailles.

Cynthia couldn't help but giggle. She playfully scratched under Eevee's chin, making it squirm with delight. "You should stop rubbing it in Garchomp's face!"

"Compared to other Pokémon, they're already improving ridiculously fast. It's not their fault you're this amazing and unique!"

Six months to reach Elite Four level?

And now, just a little over half a year later, it had probably hit the peak of that tier already?

Even fictional stories wouldn't dare write something this absurd!

"Eevee!" (Hehe, Cynthia, you always know how to talk! I love hearing that!)

Eevee let out a pleased cry.

"By the way, the Lily of the Valley Conference is coming up! You think you can win it all?" Eevee asked, a sly smile in its thoughts.

After months of travel, Cynthia had already collected all eight Gym Badges and qualified for the tournament.

Her team was fully assembled—minus Eevee.

Because, at this point, Cynthia simply couldn't view Eevee as a regular Pokémon to command in battle.

It was more like a mentor, a friend, a sage.

Professor Carolina had even reminded her of this.

Cynthia didn't just like Eevee—she respected it deeply.

She saw it as both teacher and companion.

Of course, none of that stopped her from cuddling it like a fluffy plushie.

And Eevee never objected—in fact, it seemed to enjoy it, didn't it? 😊

"Of course!" Cynthia declared with confidence.

"I won't be competing this time," Eevee reminded her.

"That's fine! I have total faith in myself!"

Cynthia grinned. "With your guidance, Garchomp, Lucario, and the others have grown far beyond their peers. If I still can't win, that would mean I'mthe problem!"

She giggled, ruffling Eevee's head playfully.

"Fair enough!" Eevee laughed mentally. "Then I wish you victory in the Lily of the Valley Conference!"

"Got any plans for after the tournament?"

Eevee's question carried a hint of something more.

Cynthia immediately caught on. She knew Eevee too well.

"Oh? You've got something in mind, don't you? A place you want to go?" she asked, holding Eevee up by its front paws, eye-level, with an amused grin.

Eevee: "..."

Its face flushed with embarrassment as it grumbled telepathically, "Can you not hold me like this?"

"Aww, is my little Eevee shy?" Cynthia teased, giggling.

Still, she lowered Eevee back into her embrace, continuing to stroke its fur as she thought, So soft...

Eevee: "... 🙄"

She was lucky it was her—if anyone else had tried this, Eevee wouldn't hesitate to swipe at their face.
