As soon as Zeke left, that strange energy—the one that had surged through me moments ago—vanished. Just like that, it was gone, leaving behind an emptiness so vast it felt as if I had been hollowed out from the inside. The sensation was jarring, like stepping from scorching heat into an icy abyss, and I hated it.
For the first time, I realized I never truly missed my old self, the ordinary Liam—the supernatural fighter boy I used to be. There was nothing to miss about feeling powerless, about being weak and normal.
