The room was silent, its walls ice-cold. The light was illuminating the hall, but it could not warm the atmosphere.
After a while, Elara sighed and shook her head. "There is no point thinking about it anymore. Our lives cannot stop because of the possibility of death."
Her words echoed in the hall, sending tremors through Alvin's heart. He looked at the stuffed garlic bread on the plate before him in silence.
"The time for the academy is about to arrive. I don't know how long it will be before we see each other, but I would rather not waste the time we have left on useless talking." Elara placed food on her plate and began eating.
