Silver and Henry were in Abraham's room, checking on him as the morning sunlight streamed softly through the curtains. Abraham, despite the bruises scattered across his face and the tight bandage on his arm, looked far better than he did the night before. His breathing was more relaxed, and the tension in his jaw had eased.
Silver exhaled a sigh of relief. "He's doing better," she said quietly, more to herself than to Henry.
Henry nodded with a half-smile. "You should rest too, Silver. You didn't sleep much last night."
Silver offered him a brief smile, then stepped out and headed to the kitchen. Inside, the elderly maid, Mama Lin, was already bustling around, chopping herbs and stirring a pot that gave off a bitter, earthy smell.
"Mama Lin," Silver called softly. "I was wondering what kind of food Noah and Abraham should eat. Something easy on the stomach, maybe?"
