Chu Yonnae drove in silence. Salin, sitting in the passenger seat, watched the city pass by the window. He knew she would speak eventually. And when she did, she went straight to the point.
— Boy, you must think I'm a horrible witch.
Salin turned his face toward her and answered without hesitation:
— I do.
She sighed, gripping the steering wheel tightly.
— You're too honest. — she murmured before changing the subject. — How are you feeling?
— Fine.
— I mean, about my son's work.
Salin hesitated for a moment.
— Uh… It's complicated. Sometimes he leaves and doesn't come back…
Chu narrowed her eyes.
— What do you mean, he doesn't come back? Jun-ho promised me he'd spend more time with you. Now he's disappearing?
— It's his work.
— Work? And what does that matter? His priority should be you. If he's going to be with my son, keep him in line.
She shot a hard look at Salin before returning her attention to the road.
