I get up carefully, trying not to make any noise, watching Salin sleep beside me. The way he looks so peaceful while asleep, with his light breathing and soft features, gives me a mix of relief. I wish I could stay, spend the morning with him, but I need to leave again, I need to hunt down the fugitives.
I lean over him and whisper:
— Salin.
He murmurs something, shifts slightly, but opens his eyes slowly, looking at me with a slightly worried gaze, still drowsy.
— What is it? Is everything okay? — he asks, almost jumping up.
I can't help but smile lightly. He always worries more than he should.
— It's fine, — I say, trying to reassure him. — I just need to leave.
I see his gaze drop slightly.
— Again? How long? — he asks.
— I don't know, but I hope to be back today.
He sighs, nodding.
— Okay. Just… don't get hurt.
— Sleep well, Salin. — Jun-ho lay Salin back down, covering him with the blanket and giving him a soft kiss on the cheek. He smiled, closing his eyes.
