Chapter 42: Squad Members
Listening to Kakashi's words, Koshino secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that Kakashi was reliable when it came to handling serious matters.
But just as Koshino had this thought, Kakashi reverted to his usual self, sternly saying, "What senior? Koshino, from now on, address me as Captain!"
"Yes, Captain!"
As expected, it was just as Koshino thought. Not long after the Fourth Hokage left, Kakashi returned to being that picky guy.
But what can you do?
After all, he's the captain.
To survive well in the Anbu squad, Koshino had no choice but to play the role of the obedient one. Fortunately, after the near "accidental killing" incident with Koshino, Kakashi had toned down quite a bit. These two Anbu were about the same height as Kakashi, likely young Anbu as well.
Seeing Kakashi arrive with Koshino, the two Anbu were initially surprised by Koshino's age. But under Kakashi's cold gaze, they quickly scratched their heads and greeted Kakashi, "Captain, you're here!"
"Yeah, I'm here."
Nodding silently, Kakashi's icy demeanor softened a bit as he listened to the young Anbu's greetings.
However, the more Kakashi behaved this way, the more Koshino found him difficult to get along with.
Having to work daily with a teammate who was always so cold and hard to approach was challenging.
Koshino really couldn't imagine whether he would come out unscathed from Kakashi's Anbu squad!
But soon, Koshino felt a bit lucky because, aside from Kakashi being hard to approach, the other two young Anbu were easy to communicate with.

"My name is Iwashi Tatami!"
"Please take care of us!"
"Hello, my name is Nara Koshino. Please take care of me, seniors!"
When it comes to interpersonal skills, Koshino had no issues.
Apart from Kakashi, who was hard to approach, Koshino got along well with others and could communicate smoothly with his new teammates.
Moreover, upon hearing the names of the two young Anbu, Lighningdō Namiashi and Iwashi Tatami, Koshino felt a sense of familiarity.
Ah, it turns out Lighningdō Namiashi and Iwashi Tatami were characters who appeared in the original storyline!
In the original story, Lighningdō Namiashi was a special jōnin, while Iwashi Tatami was just an ordinary chūnin.
However, one shouldn't underestimate the abilities of Binsoku Lighningdou and Itei Tatami.
After all, they are members of the Fourth Hokage's guard squad.
In the original storyline during the Fourth Great Ninja War, Binsoku Lighningdou and Itei Tatami, along with Genma Shiranui, successfully used the Flying Thunder God Technique to transfer the Fifth Mizukage.
Of course, compared to Kakashi, Binsoku Lighningdou and Itei Tatami are just minor characters among minor characters.
But Koshino doesn't judge people with preconceived notions, especially given how enthusiastic Binsoku Lighningdou and Itei Tatami were.
Koshino quickly became acquainted with them. After that, Koshino learned from them the identities of the other two members of Kakashi's Anbu squad.

In this Anbu squad, Koshino and Guy were the newcomers, while Kakashi, Binsoku Lighningdou, Itei Tatami, and Genma Shiranui had been working together for a long time, having completed many missions together.
After a round of introductions, Kakashi cleared his throat, bringing everyone to silence.
His gaze swept over everyone, finally resting on Koshino. With his Anbu mask on, Kakashi slowly explained the mission they were about to undertake:
"According to intelligence, a group of bandits has recently appeared in the Land of Fire, and they might be spies from other countries.
So, our mission is very simple: first, eliminate those bandits, and second, investigate their identities to determine if they are indeed spies from other countries."
"Since Koshino and Guy are new to Anbu, there are some rules I must explain to you in advance!"
"There are three rules!"
"One, during missions, you must follow the captain's orders!"
"Two, do not interfere in matters outside the mission, even if you encounter fellow villagers in danger, you must act as if you didn't see it!"
"Three, do not reveal your identity during missions!"
"Koshino, Guy, choose a codename!"
"Yes!"
During their earlier conversation, Koshino learned that Kakashi's codename was "Fang," Genma Shiranui's was "Fire," Binsoku Lighningdou's was "Thunder," and Itei Tatami's was "Sense."
So when Kakashi asked Koshino to choose a codename, Koshino didn't hesitate and chose "Shadow," a symbol of the Nara Clan's secret techniques.
Unexpectedly, Guy, always one with peculiar tastes, chose "Turtle" as his codename, leaving Koshino, Kakashi, and the others speechless.
With the codenames decided, it was time to carry out the mission.
Undoubtedly, this was Koshino's first time leaving the village of Konoha for a mission, so he couldn't help but feel a bit excited as he stepped out of the village gates.
But soon, the excitement and thrill of leaving Konoha faded from Koshino's heart, especially after witnessing the ruthless methods of Anbu during missions.
