Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Dry your tears upon my writhing form.

When the world was made, there was a tenant. Eat not of the fruit of Eden lest you be cursed with knowledge. This was a thought that has been in the minds of both men and women for as long as there have been written language, and long before that. Is it easier to stay ignorant, or to conquer the world of the unknown? Is it better to face the things that may scare us, to press against the cold blackness we call the dark, or shall we chain ourselves to our realities in ignorance of the things beyond us, only caring for the things around us.

The night was filled with the pitter patters of rain drops, as a masked man looked upward towards the ceiling of his prison. His name? People called him by many names, Freak, creepy masked man, and even a killer, but to those he helped, the ones stood for? He was called Mr. Smiley.

*Smash!!*

"Is that all ya got?" Smiley was looking up into the face of one of the guards of his eternal prison, he'd sooner forget his own name and face before he forgot why he was here.. which is why the other prisoners called him 'Smiley' the mask that covered his face was burnt into the skin of his face. His crimes numerous, his prison sentence eternal.. for what? Nobody in the prison knew. *Crack!!* The guards were much more aggressive than usual, Smiley saw.. why was that? *Smash!!* He was smashed through a table carved from some far off world. This was a daily ritual, what some call hell was similar to a prison for creatures like him, creatures formed from nothing, this prison was how the eldest of them kept the weaker ones in line, to bind them, break them, and convert them.. When Smiley looked back into the eyes of the guard, what he thought was rage, was fear.. and almost underneath his breath Smiley thought he heard the guard whisper.. "Breaking free.. even the tortures.. getting stronger.." The guard fell to his knees, exhausted from beating Smiley. "Look.. please Ive heard what you've done.. I know what you're capable of, if I let you out.. will you just leave?"

This was not an offer, this was a plea, a plea of mercy. The Violent god would eventually break free from his prison.. but who was to ask the storm not to destroy their home? Smiley Looked up at the guard, the man who has beaten him, tortured him alongside others to break him.. and in his own words, he let out a cruel promise, a lie to bring a false calm to the man. "Of course, why wouldn't I take that deal?" The guard took a double take. "You're lying right?" The guard hesitant to believe him, paranoid of what would happen when released, he choked back the fear.. "Oh shit.." In a desperate attempt to stop what was coming, he grab his baton and continued to beat Smiley over and over, smashing his baton into the grotesque rubber mask they melted into his face.. The guard quickly shuffled his overexerted form out of the room that held Smiley. Certain he had killed him, his thoughts on how he'd explain to the boss of the prison world, why he had killed someone they were tasked with converting.

Smiley's mind reeled back.. his dreams were full of the despair of mortal men and women, innocent people hurt by peers, his heart wept for them, a dream forced upon the prisoners to promise more pain to those who tried to break away form the Gods' fold.. but whatever Smiley's purpose was, it wasn't to be used by the gods' it was something more intimate. He then heard a gentle whisper, different from the usual screams and threats he was used to in his dreams, he saw it, many would call it 'the' god, some may call it the first universe to become sentient.. but he saw it and for the first time he didn't cry, he didn't yell to be released.. but he took in the comforting words of the being. "I am not what they wanted me to be. I am not who I wanted to be when I was young. I am not letting this go. I am not ok. I am wrong." subconsciously repeating the words of this warm voice, he got up repeating it like a mantra. The guard, at first believing to have put the threat down shuddered when hearing the muffled words. Cold sweat formed on his neck.. "Oh god."

To be continued.
