Chapter 129 - 129. Easily Controlled with One Hand

The brief peace was ultimately shattered without mercy.

War, like an unstoppable tidal wave, had swept everyone of this era into its grasp.

On the borders between the Land of Fire and the Lands of Grass and Waterfall, Jiraiya, acting as the commander, was facing an unprecedented crisis.

"Lord Jiraiya! Iwagakure's explosive unit has launched an attack on our camp!"

A Byakugan-wielding Hyūga ninja rushed over to report.

"Additionally, we've detected an extremely powerful chakra presence among the Iwa forces. We suspect that one of their Jinchūriki has arrived on the battlefield."

Jiraiya's expression turned grim upon hearing this.

"Iwagakure is really going all out this time."

He rubbed his cheek, feeling the weight of the situation.

Even as one of the Legendary Sannin, dealing with a Tailed Beast was no easy task.

"What's the situation back in the village? Has Danzo's reinforcement unit arrived yet?"

A nearby ninja immediately responded:

"The reinforcements have already been dispatched in an emergency. They're expected to reach the front lines by tonight."

The distance from Konoha to their current battlefield was still significant.

Since the war was declared, the village had gradually sent additional troops, but handling a full-scale invasion from Iwagakure was still a monumental challenge.

Especially when the enemy had an explosive unit among their ranks.

Jiraiya let out a long sigh and instructed:

"Tell everyone to prepare for a desperate fight. There's no way that old fox Ōnoki will let this opportunity slip away."

"This incoming offensive will be fierce."

"We must hold this town until reinforcements arrive!"

And as if to confirm his words, the very next moment, a dense barrage of whistling sounds tore through the sky.

A deep, booming noise filled the air—

The sound of massive objects tearing through the atmosphere at terrifying speeds!

Jiraiya immediately realized what was happening and shouted at the top of his lungs:

"Enemy attack!"

As the Konoha shinobi looked up at the sky, they were greeted by a cataclysmic sight—

A massive rain of blackened boulders, descending like meteors from the heavens!

This was Iwagakure's second-deadliest tactic, next to their explosive unit—

A Legion-Level Jutsu!

This strategy was a specialized warfare technique devised by Ōnoki himself to break through fortified positions.

By having large numbers of Iwa-nin simultaneously cast the same jutsu, they combined their chakra to multiply its power, creating a devastating large-scale attack.

The apocalyptic sight before them was the result of a mass execution of [Earth Release: Earth Mausoleum Dumpling]!

Jiraiya didn't hesitate—

He bit his thumb, formed the seals, and activated the Summoning Jutsu at top speed!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

In an instant, three massive pillars of smoke erupted from the camp.

And from within them, three colossal toad silhouettes emerged—

Gamabunta, Gamahiro, and Gamaken—the Three Great Battle Toads!

Without a word, they gripped their weapons and began smashing the incoming boulders, intercepting the deadly rain.

Meanwhile, the Konoha shinobi launched their own counterattack—

One after another, powerful jutsu shot toward the sky, shattering the falling rocks into pieces.

Even so, some of the smaller debris still managed to land inside the town, destroying buildings upon impact.

Jiraiya leaped onto Gamabunta's head, securing the best vantage point.

Because he knew—

If Ōnoki had initiated an attack, then this wouldn't be the end of it.

Sure enough, the very next second, the entire battlefield trembled violently.

The ground split apart with earthquake-like force, sending shockwaves through the land.

From a distance, pitch-black fissures began cracking open, expanding like lightning bolts, racing toward Konoha's defensive walls.

Fortunately, the entire camp was surrounded by barriers, so the cracks couldn't directly reach the walls.

But Jiraiya didn't let his guard down.

His voice rang out sharply—

"Be careful! The attack is coming from underground!"

Just as he spoke—

Countless Iwa-nin, clad in bandages, leapt out of the dark fissures with blinding speed!

Before the Konoha shinobi could even react—

They struck!

One powerful punch after another slammed into the walls.

And in the very next moment—

A devastating explosion engulfed the fortifications!

The sheer shockwave of the blast overpowered the barrier, tearing through the defenses.

Several sections of the fortress walls were successfully breached.

This was the fearsome power of Iwagakure's Explosive Unit—

If given even a single opening, they could unleash destruction within seconds!

"Damn it..."

Jiraiya's expression immediately darkened.

As expected, more Iwagakure shinobi emerged from the distance, rushing toward the breached walls at top speed.

The gap had to be sealed—immediately!

If not, Konoha's defensive advantage would be completely lost.

Jiraiya made a snap decision and quickly coordinated with his long-time partner, Gamabunta.

"Got it. Leave it to me."

The massive toad, exuding an undeniable mob boss aura, bit down on his huge smoking pipe.

Then—

BOOM!

His powerful, folded frog legs exploded with force, propelling his mountain-sized body into the air.

A moment later, he slammed down heavily onto one of the breaches, blocking it completely.

And he didn't stop there—

The instant he landed, he attacked!

With a swift, electrifying motion, Gamabunta unsheathed his enormous katana and slashed forward.

The Iwa-nin tried to evade, but the sheer force of the attack still sent them flying backward.

Seeing this, Gamahiro and Gamaken charged forward, reinforcing the defense and forming an impenetrable barrier in front of Konoha's forces.

"Everyone, hold the line! Start reinforcing our defenses!"

Jiraiya, standing atop Gamabunta's head, shouted loudly to rally the troops.

With the Three Great Battle Toads of Mount Myōboku covering them, Konoha's forces finally caught a breath after the sudden ambush.

Under Jiraiya's leadership, the defenders quickly activated various defensive measures.

A barrage of kunai, shuriken, and long-range jutsu was launched relentlessly from the walls, raining down on the advancing Iwa forces.

But—

Ōnoki was a cunning strategist.

He must have anticipated this very response.

Just as Jiraiya and Gamabunta were about to launch their Toad Oil Flame Bullet technique,

BOOM!

A sudden explosion of white steam erupted from the Iwa ranks—

And before anyone could react, a blurry figure shot forward like a bullet.

Faster than the eye could follow!

Gamabunta barely had time to raise his katana in defense—

Then—CRASH!

The impact sent the massive toad flying backward!

His enormous body crashed through four or five buildings before finally coming to a halt.

"You okay, Bunta?"

Jiraiya emerged from a mess of white hair, his voice filled with concern.

Gamabunta groaned but slowly got back up.

"I ain't dead yet... but that steam is gonna be a problem."

He wiped his mouth with a webbed hand, revealing scalded burns all over his body from the intense steam heat.

Jiraiya's eyes narrowed—

With his vast intel network, he immediately deduced their opponent's identity.

The "Steam Ninja"—Han, the Jinchūriki of the Five-Tails.

As the steam gradually cleared, Han's towering figure emerged before them.

He was covered head to toe in thick red armor, leaving only his eyes visible.

Over his armor, he wore a green sleeveless ninja uniform, and a red conical hat rested atop his head.

"Even the Five-Tails' Jinchūriki has been deployed? Looks like Ōnoki is truly determined to win this war."

Jiraiya's expression was grim.

A Tailed Beast was a village's nuclear weapon—

A strategic asset that rarely saw direct deployment on the battlefield.

Villages protected their Jinchūriki fiercely, fearing unforeseen consequences.

But for Ōnoki to send Han to the front lines...

It was a clear sign that Iwagakure was going all-in.

Jiraiya clenched his fists.

"Enough talking—let's do this!"

He clapped his hands together, beginning a rapid sequence of hand seals.

Gamabunta immediately understood his intentions—

The very next moment, he spat out a massive cloud of thick, flammable toad oil!

And in perfect sync, Jiraiya unleashed a roaring blast of fire—

The battlefield ignited in an inferno!

"Fire Release: Toad Oil Flame Bullet!"

Scalding toad oil was instantly ignited by fire, forming a massive fireball that roared forward!

But Han did not evade. Instead, he chose to confront it head-on.

"Boil Release: Steam Jet!"

He bent forward, and the protrusions on his back erupted with a torrent of superheated steam.

A colossal white vapor column surged forth, colliding violently with the incoming fireball.

BOOM!

As fire met steam, a tremendous explosion erupted.

Through the dispersing mist, the enormous shadow of Gamabunta emerged from above—

And attacked immediately.

But Han, as the Jinchūriki of the Five-Tails, was one of the strongest shinobi in the entire ninja world.

Facing Gamabunta's attack, his eyes showed no fear.

His red-armored elbows suddenly burst with white steam, enhancing his strength as he clamped both hands onto the massive downward-slashing katana.

Even with Han's overwhelming power, the ground beneath his feet cracked violently under the force.

But—he didn't budge an inch.

Then, with another blast of steam from his back, his arm strength surged further—

To the point where even Gamabunta struggled.

For the first time, he was being overpowered by a mere human!

With a final surge of strength, Han threw both Gamabunta and his sword aside, sending the massive toad crashing into the city wall.

But—

Jiraiya had anticipated this.

Just as Gamabunta was sent flying, he leaped into the air, his hands forming rapid seals.

"Ninja Art: Wild Lion's Mane Jutsu!"

His snow-white hair suddenly extended at extreme speed, transforming into thousands of hardened needles that rained down like a storm toward Han!

But Han was too fast—

The moment he sent Gamabunta flying, he had already propelled himself away with another burst of steam.

Most of Jiraiya's hair needles missed, shredding only the ground.

"If this is what the Legendary Sannin are capable of, then Konoha truly is in decline."

Han sneered, steam swirling around his red armor like a battle god.

He prepared to press the attack, intent on humiliating the legendary ninja before him.

Once again, he released a massive burst of steam, stamping his foot down to launch himself forward—

But—

Something was wrong.

His foot sank into the ground.

"What the—?"

Before he realized it, the ground beneath him had turned into a swamp!

His movements ground to a halt, like a war machine stuck in mud.

"Damn it... I can't move?!"

Han's face darkened.

At that moment—

Jiraiya emerged from the swamp.

As a seasoned warrior, he had never intended to fight Han head-on.

From the very start, he had left a Shadow Clone behind, using the steam explosion as cover.

The clone had been hiding underground, waiting for the perfect moment.

And now—

It had paid off.

Jiraiya immediately activated a Summoning Jutsu.

POOF!

A thick cloud of blood-red smoke erupted, and in an instant—

Both he and Han were swallowed by a bizarre, fleshy chamber.

The walls pulsated, covered in wrinkled, crimson flesh, resembling the stomach or intestines of a massive creature.

At the same time—

The swamp beneath Han transformed into living tissue, locking him in place.

This was one of Jiraiya's signature techniques, a summoning-based jutsu:

Toad Stomach Prison!

This was the stomach of the Great Rock Toad from Mount Myōboku—

A place from which no enemy had ever escaped.

As Han struggled, the walls of the stomach began secreting powerful acidic fluids.

The corrosive liquid sizzled as it ate away at Han's red armor.

Even his steam-enhanced durability was not immune to the stomach's relentless digestion!

"Even a Tailed Beast shouldn't be provoking Konoha."

Jiraiya wore a hint of arrogance on his face as he swiftly approached the enemy, ready to finish things as quickly as possible.

But he was still a step too late.

Sensing a life-threatening crisis, Han unleashed his full power without holding back.

"Boom!"

A surge of crimson chakra erupted from his body, accompanied by an unimaginably intense wave of steam!

In an instant, a massive cloud of water vapor, mixed with Tailed Beast chakra, swept toward Jiraiya.

He immediately retreated and dispelled his Summoning Jutsu—otherwise, the stomach of the Great Toad of Iwagama would have burst on the spot.

As the toad's stomach disappeared, the steam rapidly spread.

Within the white mist, a blood-red chakra shot straight into the sky!

As a Jinchūriki, Han was now fully engulfed in the crimson Tailed Beast chakra.

Sharp horns sprouted from his forehead, steam continuously radiated from his body, and three tails lashed wildly behind him.

"Has he entered a berserk state?"

Jiraiya's tone was grave.

Taking down a rampaging Tailed Beast was no easy task—let alone with an entire Iwagakure unit attacking from the outside.

That old fox Ōnoki was probably watching from somewhere nearby...

Without hesitation, Jiraiya summoned the two great sages, Fukasaku and Shima, from Mount Myōboku, preparing to enter his strongest mode.

"What's the matter, Little Jiraiya?"

The green-skinned Fukasaku appeared on Jiraiya's shoulder, asking curiously.

"Things don't look good."

Shima, who resembled a curly-haired landlady of the toad world, looked at the berserk Five-Tails Jinchūriki with a similarly serious expression.

Jiraiya let out a bitter chuckle.

"No choice, I'll have to rely on you two, big bro, big sis."

"Don't worry."

"Leave it to us."

The two sages responded in unison.

They then clasped their hands together, absorbing and condensing the surrounding natural energy, transforming it into Senjutsu chakra and channeling it into Jiraiya's body.

Instantly, red markings appeared around Jiraiya's eyes. In addition to his usual two red streaks, two deeper lines emerged.

His nose and pupils also showed signs of toad-like transformation.

This was Jiraiya's strongest form.

With the two sages gathering Senjutsu chakra for him, he entered Sage Mode.

In this state, his speed, strength, and jutsu potency were vastly enhanced—his ultimate weapon against a Tailed Beast.

And at this moment, he was the only ninja in the entire shinobi world capable of entering Sage Mode.

Feeling the overwhelming power coursing through his body, Jiraiya's face regained its confident smile.

"Careful, the enemy is coming."

Fukasaku warned.

In the next second, the Five-Tails Jinchūriki grew a fourth thick tail, in addition to the three already present.

Not only that, but steam burst violently from his body.

Using the steam as propulsion, he charged forward like a rampaging bull of steel, swinging the spiked horns on his head with terrifying force!

Even in Sage Mode, Jiraiya didn't dare to take the attack head-on. He could only evade.

Thus, the Five-Tails Jinchūriki began a rampage of destruction.

With his monstrous strength, he crashed through numerous houses and sections of the city wall.

"This can't go on."

A fierce light flashed in Jiraiya's eyes.

The two sages on his shoulders finally spoke.

"We're ready, Little Jiraiya."

"I understand."

Jiraiya nodded and burst forward at incredible speed.

His body moved like an agile toad, leaping between debris and buildings, closing in on the berserk Jinchūriki.

Just as the Five-Tails Jinchūriki prepared to swat Jiraiya down like an insect—

The two sages on Jiraiya's shoulders inhaled deeply, their cheeks puffing up—then unleashed an eerie croak.

"Genjutsu: Toad Confrontation Chant!"

A terrifying soundwave rippled through the air, distorting the very space around them.

Layer upon layer of hypnotic, fluctuating sound invaded the enemy's ears—even a Tailed Beast could not escape its effects.

In an instant, the space around the Five-Tails twisted.

Within the crimson abyss of flesh and chakra, four massive toads appeared—each bearing kanji on their bodies: [No], [Movement], [Underworld], [King].

They were clad in armor, wielding enormous swords, surrounded by swirling, mysterious incantations.

Their outstretched hands enclosed the Five-Tails, forming an impenetrable barrier.

This was the strongest Genjutsu cast by the two Great Sages together!

"Now, Jiraiya!"

The sages gave the signal.

Jiraiya nodded heavily.

At some point, a gray stone sword, infused with natural energy from Mount Myōboku, had appeared in his hand.

Without hesitation, he thrust the blade toward the Five-Tails Jinchūriki's chest!

This sword carried the fearsome power of Mount Myōboku.

It was the final strike, meant to complement the Genjutsu.

Not even the Tailed Beast's chakra could withstand this attack.

Jiraiya delivered this blow with the intention of eliminating one of Iwagakure's Tailed Beasts.

But Iwagakure wouldn't let that happen so easily.

At that moment, the figure Jiraiya had been wary of for so long finally appeared—

Ōnoki descended from the sky, moving at top speed.

He extended his hands and condensed an extreme burst of light.

"Dust Release: Detachment of the Primitive World Technique!"

A white beam transformed into a massive pillar of destruction, descending like a divine sword from the heavens!

"Damn it!"

Faced with Ōnoki's overwhelming threat, Jiraiya had no choice but to abandon his decisive strike and retreat.

The white beam struck the ground between Jiraiya and the Five-Tails Jinchūriki, carving a deep and precise trench.

Had he been touched by that light, being disintegrated to atoms would have been Jiraiya's inevitable fate.

Ōnoki's arrival sent a wave of exhilaration through the Iwagakure forces. Their morale surged, and they intensified their assault on Konoha's defenses.

"Little Jiraiya, dealing with both of them at once won't be easy," Fukasaku warned.

In other words—it was time to retreat.

Jiraiya remained silent.

He could, of course, use reverse summoning to escape to Mount Myōboku.

But what about the Konoha shinobi still here?

Ōnoki didn't give him much time to think.

As soon as Jiraiya distanced himself from the Five-Tails Jinchūriki, a vastly larger "Detachment of the Primitive World Technique" rained down from above.

Blinding white light filled Jiraiya's vision.

Suddenly, a familiar sensation appeared on his shoulder.

He turned his head—golden hair entered his sight.

"Sensei, I'm late."

Minato spoke, slightly out of breath.

Because Jiraiya always carried Minato's Flying Thunder God mark, the moment he received a distress signal, Minato had teleported in immediately.

And he hadn't come alone.

Alongside him was one of the masterminds behind this war—the leader of Konoha's militant faction, the "Darkness of the Shinobi"—Shimura Danzo!

The moment Danzo appeared, he leaped into the air.

The dazzling light of Dust Release reflected off his face.

Jiraiya's expression twisted in urgency.

Dust Release disintegrated everything it touched into nothingness.

He wanted to warn Danzo—but it was already too late.

He could only watch as Danzo collided with the blinding white light—

And then…

Danzo crushed it to dust with a single hand.
