The same full moon graced Ashin as he sat on his motorcycle deep in thought. The barely lit street made his figure look intimidating, his silver hair glistened against the moonlight, while his icy silver eyes seemed sullen.
He looked down at his moon ring, another encrypted item courtesy of the Sa'lu family. It controlled his transformations and kept his inner most desires at bay during the full moon. Usually, werewolves would either lock themselves up for the night to avoid chaos, or if they were an alpha, they would hide away with their luna and indulge in their sexual desires over the more dangerous instincts.
*Beeep Beeep*
Ashin's phone rung.
Maya's name was displayed on the screen with a picture they took together on one of their various encounters. Ashin was trying to slowly distance himself from Maya as his free time away from home was ending soon, he knew he would have to leave her eventually. Without being able to explain why he thought if she hated him enough, she would move on soon.
*Beeep Beeep*
The phone continued to ring.
Although he wasn't doing a very good job as Maya noticed his change in behaviour and Ashin couldn't bring himself to fully let her go. He kept indulging his desires and shifting between hot and cold approaches.
Tonight however, with the full moon, he was afraid that if he saw Maya, he would do something he would regret. The moon ring may keep him tame, but it wasn't impervious to Ashin's rebellion.
*Beeep Beeep*
The phone rang once more.
Maya clearly wasn't going to give up. Ashin enjoyed that part of her personality. When she wanted something, she wouldn't hesitate to give her everything.
Ashin gave in and answered. 'Maya.' His voice was calm.
[Ashin, what are you doing?] Maya spoke in a stern voice.
'I'm just parked up, not much really.' Ashin replied knowing that wasn't what she meant.
[No, I mean… Never mind. Where are you now?] Maya asked.
'I don't think tonight is a good idea Maya, I'm not in a good mood.' Ashin tried to deter her.
Maya sighed through the phone. [I know what you're trying to do. What I don't know, is why? Okay sure I know I've been moody and not myself lately, but you still owe me an explanation.]
Maya had been acting quite erratic the past week, which only made Ashin feel worse, seeing how his inconsistency was making her behave.
'Maya, stop no you've done nothing wrong and don't need to explain yourself. Would you just accept, if I said I can't explain.' Ashin's voice sounded weak; he was pleading. He cared for her greatly, but betraying his family was something he would not do.
[Bullshit!] Maya swore. Her tenacity made Ashin chuckle; he was glad to see despite his shameful performance she remained herself.
'Course not.' Ashin released a sweet smile with his words.
[I think I know where you are, stay there and let's talk in person.] Maya had gotten very good at finding Ashin, somehow, she would know where to go on campus to bump into him. Sometimes naturally and sometimes it wasn't so subtle.
This time however Ashin was no where near the campus and had driven quite a way outside of the city. 'What are you talking abo…' Ashin didn't finish his words, there was no need to. He could smell her. She was close.
'Maya. Where are you right now?' Ashin turned to see a figure cycling down the street he was parked on. He hung up the phone as his night vision made it very clear who was approaching him.
Maya wore a mini sports dress that showed off her thighs, her hair was tied up in a high ponytail as per her usual style. She skidded her bike to a halt right in front of Ashin as she dismounted and threw her gym bag right in his face.
'Fuck you! Ashin Why are you doing this?' Maya was huffing and puffing from cycling non-stop to find him. 'You think I don't see how I'm acting! I just can't help it!' Her anger rose along side her voice. 'This is your fault for coming into my life, so don't just think you can run away!' She couldn't control herself any longer, Maya knew her words sounded clingy, obsessive and simply illogical. 'I won't let you run away! Just try and see if I don't hunt you down everywhere you go!'
Ashin sat in shock as he listened to Maya release all her pent-up frustrations. His face went from delight as his eyes traced her body, to confusion, shock and then simple bewilderment.
'Yes, I know it sounds crazy but that's what my love is for you. Fuck did I just say love?' Maya's rant came to a pause as she looked down in embarrassment. Her shouting was nowhere near as awkward as her dropping the L word right after threatening him.
She gave up on looking sane and let her feelings run wild. 'Yes, I'm FUCKING CRAZY in love! So don't test me!'
Silence circled them quickly after the echoes of Maya's voice had faded.
Ashin finally spoke. 'Maya, what are you?' His voice was confused with a hint of excitement as a smirk creeped up on his face.
'What do y… What are staring at?' Maya was taken back as Ashin was no longer looking her in the eyes, instead his gaze was fixated on the top of her head. She brushed her hair wondering if there was something stuck but jumped in shock when she felt two animalistic ears instead.
'WHAT THE FUCK!' Maya took hold of them both, 'What's going on?' Her voice quickly became full of panic.
Ashin took his motorbike helmet and placed it on her for cover, in case of passerby's. 'Don't worry that I can explain.' The smile on his face kept growing, he knew Maya was clearly afraid, and clearly were more complicated that he once thought. However, as soon as he saw the unmistakable wolf ears on Maya, everything made sense to him.
'Hey! Shit Shit Shit! What is that?' Maya began circling herself as felt something uncomfortable poke out from under her dress. She could see glimpses of what looked like a furry tail brushing against her leg.
Ashin couldn't help but laugh out loud, letting go of all his worries as he took off his leather jacket. He held Maya still as he tied his jacket around her waist to cover up her tail.
Ashin slid the helmet visor up to expose Maya's eyes, her pupils had stretched making her look more like an animal. As Ashin stared deeply within them, all the emotions he had for Maya took over him, he felt at peace. 'Everything is fine now. My Luna.'
