Kai slowed down. His ran became a walk as his lower body burned. He rested beneath the sun under a large tree before continuing.
Two more days passed until he found himself looking at an unbelievable sight.
Kai's lips parted, breathless.
He passed a low, crumbling stone wall.
His steps slowed.
"It's been so long that I'd almost forgotten…" His voice was hoarse, his throat raw. "The ruined city Dad talked about…"
He lifted his gaze.
