The golden light of the setting sun bathed the vast field of roses around them as Ren and Lilith walked side by side.
The petals swayed gently in the breeze, dancing to a graceful but unknown tune.
It had been six long months of peace since the new king, Kane Vermilion, had been crowned. With all the chaos and fighting they'd had in Steadfast, they were taking their time to savor the peace. It was, after all, well deserved.
Ren had promised to enjoy this place with Lilith, and even though a field like this had been the place she'd killed her brother, he intended to honor that promise.
So, there they were as Lilith sighed contentedly, her fingers trailing across the tops of the roses as they walked. "This place is beautiful." She murmured. "It makes me feel like I'm walking in another time. A time when human worries didn't exist."
Ren grinned at her words. "You just like it because it's quiet."
