Chapter 67 - SPOP Chapter 66 It's Her

The morning sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting shadow on the ground, forming a mysterious pattern.

Around 5 to 6 o'clock, a squad of Marines had already appeared on the streets, their expressions solemn as they patrolled back and forth.

The residents of Baterilla Island were already familiar with this situation; at first, they were fearful and anxious, but over time, they realized that these Marines were just searching for something, and they became accustomed to it.

On the island's streets, there were Marines stationed every few dozen meters. It could be said that at this moment, the island was completely occupied by the Marines.

In fact, the number of Marines might even exceed the number of residents.

Rojen was now standing at the starting point of another residential area, slightly closing his eyes as he walked forward slowly.

As Marines passed by him, he maintained a calm expression, ignoring them, and the latter merely glanced at him a few times before continuing on without questioning him.

After a morning's time, Rojen had finished inspecting this street.

At noon, he had lunch and then headed towards another residential area.

As before, he completed the inspection of the third residential area, still finding no trace of Rouge.

A day passed like this; Rojen remained calm, brushing past the Marines on the street before entering a hotel to rest.

In contrast, Jason was now scratching his head in frustration; it had been two days, and he still had no news of Lordling, and he hadn't even found anyone resembling her.

"Oh no, what should I do? Still no news!"

Walking down the street with a dejected expression, Jason wore a worried frown, feeling anxious inside.

His burly figure attracted attention as he walked down the street, quickly covering half the street.

Suddenly, a shout rang out, causing Jason to stop in his tracks.

"Attention everyone here!"

A Marine was standing on a high point, holding a loudspeaker and shouting loudly.

"Tomorrow morning at eight o'clock, all pregnant women are to gather here for verification; we hope everyone will cooperate."

"Residents, please remember, all pregnant women must arrive; those who are late will face more trouble if found by us Marines!"

"We hope everyone will cooperate; once your identity is confirmed, you will no longer be subjected to any questioning and will continue to be protected by the Marines!"

Soon, a large crowd gathered here, some with eager expressions, some looking distressed, and others feeling frustrated. This news quickly spread through the crowd, making everyone on the island understand.

Upon hearing this news for the first time, Jason's eyes immediately lit up.

"Finally, some good news!"

He felt a sigh of relief in his heart; with new information, Jason quickly found a hotel, took a nice shower, and fell into a deep sleep.

On the island, in a residential area.

A woman with a gentle appearance and a prominent belly was moving about in her room, preparing food for herself.

Behind the woman, a small cat was watching her every move with wide eyes.

"This woman looks exactly like the one in the picture!"

"This is Rouge! The target he is looking for!"

A smile appeared in Lordling's eyes as it observed the woman, having been watching her for some time and being very certain that this person was indeed Rojen's target. Her gentle aura and subtly extraordinary presence, along with her resilient character, deeply moved it.

What kind of woman is this?

She is alone, facing the Marines' scrutiny, yet remaining calm and methodically living according to her own thoughts; her nerves were thicker than any man's, and she was even bolder.

"I must protect her before he arrives, protect this woman!" Lordling silently made a decision in its heart.

From the first glance, it had already taken a liking to this woman. A gentle yet strong woman, earning its admiration.

'If, if I could be as strong as this woman, would the outcome be different?' Unknowingly, Lordling fell into a daze, lost in its own memories.

"Hehe, thankfully I have you, little cat; with you by my side, I won't feel so lonely." Rouge looked at the dazed Lordling and suddenly smiled brightly.

"Meow," Lordling responded with a sound.

"Another round of scrutiny tomorrow; these Marines are becoming more troublesome."

In the blink of an eye, Rouge's expression turned serious again.

Time and again, scrutiny might be concealed at first, but with the Marines' repeated verification, it would eventually reveal some clues.

"What should I do?!"

There was some anxiety in Rouge's eyes, but she was not panicking.

Baterilla Island was almost completely surrounded by Marines; it could be said that this sea was almost entirely Marine territory, and this was the very center of the encirclement formed by the Marines. Escaping Baterilla Island might still hold some hope, but breaking free from the Marines' encirclement was a daunting challenge!

"Meow."

At that moment, Lordling meowed, seemingly trying to comfort Rouge.

"Are you telling me not to worry? Hehe, what a clever cat." Rouge seemed to understand, smiling as she spoke.

"Meow, meow, meow!" Lordling gestured with its paws.

"Oh? Are you saying someone is coming to rescue me?" This revelation surprised Rouge.

Lordling nodded, affirming Rouge's question.

Then, Rouge fell silent, gazing deeply at Lordling. This mysterious cat had been brought over by Mary from next door. Yet, it miraculously seemed to understand her words.

"It says someone is coming to rescue me? Who could it be?" The image of that person flashed in her mind, but she quickly shook her head.

"My existence, being a partner to that person, is hard to know."

"Who could it possibly be?"

In the blink of an eye, a night had passed.

On this day, Jason arrived early at the location mentioned by the Marines yesterday, arms crossed and eyes wide open, intently watching that spot.

"Today, I must find her!"

"I can't let the captain down!"

Silently promising himself, Jason's gaze was serious.

Soon, the Marines lined up at the designated location and quickly set up all the verification arrangements.

In less than an hour, a group of pregnant women, surrounded by Marines, arrived at the site.

Jason's eyes darted around, carefully observing each woman.

However, after one group of women was inspected, he still did not find his target.

"Where are they? This shouldn't be happening!"

He continued to wait, and after three more groups of women were inspected and left, he thought,

"There must be more!" Jason suppressed his anxiety and continued to focus on the area.

A quarter of an hour passed, and suddenly, Jason heard a faint meow.

He quickly raised his head and looked towards the diagonal back.

"Is that?!"

"It's her!"

"It must be her!!!"
