The night at the Redwood Estate was unusually a bit of quiet.
It was way too quiet.
Seo Ryung was standing on the wooden walkway outside his sleeping quarters, his gaze was locked on the blinking lanterns that shed light on the pathways. The Murim Alliance guards were still stationed at various points, but their presence was no longer feeling like protection.
It felt like surveillance.
His grip on the wooden railing had tightened. Something was coming.
And his master knew it.
Inside the barely lit office, Heuk Cheon was pouring himself a small cup of hot tea. Though he didn't drink it, he had merely let the warmth of it seep into his scarred fingers. Across from him sat Elder Baek, one of the higher ranking officials of the Murim Alliance.
"I'll have to say, you have been very cooperative so far, Heuk Cheon," Elder Baek had commended him, while taking a sip from his own cup of tea. "A lesser man would have yelled out his complaints right about now."
