Elisse frowned.
She was well aware of all the cruel tricks and dark magic that existed in her world, but there wasn't any kind of spell powerful enough to allow possession like this. At least, none she had ever heard of.
And even if such magic did exist, why would someone go through so much trouble to steal her Lady's body?
There wasn't a logical reason.
It didn't make sense.
So, if she removed the unbelievable parts, she was left with one explanation:
Lidia was telling the truth.
Her brow furrowed and the her grip on the knife tightened for just a second before she finally let out a slow, sharp exhale and lowered her weapon.
Lidia tensed anyway, ready to launch herself into the nearest corner if Elisse suddenly had another 'instinctive' reaction, but to her surprise…
The maid—the same maid who had almost gutted her—slowly, stiffly, got down on her knees and bowed.
"I'm sorry, my lady," Elisse said, forehead touching the ground in a display of deep apology.
