Chapter 40 - She’s a Bit Hyper

Caspian had been lazing around the apartment by himself. Genos was off doing who-knows-what, and Boros and Gunner, well, he had spotted them dashing out of the building earlier, heading off in some random direction. It seemed the two were getting along, which brought a smile to Caspian's face. He had filled them in on as much as he could think of, at least the basics of this world, so they should be fine.

He wouldn't worry about it. Today was supposed to be simple: junk food, public broadcasts, and manga. But concentrating was harder than he expected. His mind kept drifting to his date with Tatsumaki tomorrow, filling him with a mix of excitement and anticipation.

Just as he settled into his relaxation, his phone vibrated. It was Dr. Genus. Mosquito Girl had awakened. The news lifted Caspian's spirits even higher. First Tatsumaki, now Mosquito Girl, things were falling into place in this new life. All he had to do was to continue to take things one step at a time.

Following the timeline closely had worked in his favor so far. His goal, his dream from the very beginning, hadn't been worldwide fame, and he already had the power. No, it was something far more personal: his happily ever after with all those he held dear.

Though Caspian knew he would need to make larger deviations in the timeline going forward to realize said dream. Even if he didn't make the deviations himself, they were still bound to happen. Boros alone would bring about unforeseen changes.

Multiple considerations plagued Caspian's mind as he made his way to W-City. By the time he neared his destination, he had conjured up possible solutions to each of them.

For starters, he needed to figure out how to handle 'God,' or at least gain the ability to confront him. He also had to decide how far to let Garou grow. Would Garou still reach 'Cosmic Fear Mode' if 'God' granted him powers while he was weaker? One solution he had devised might give him the means to interfere with or oppose this event.

A powerful gust of wind rushed past Caspian, snapping him out of his thoughts right as he rounded the corner and found himself once again on this street. Overhead, dark storm clouds loomed. Passersby glanced nervously at the sky as he walked by them, likely hoping the rain would hold off.

In the distance, he could make out the faint hum of city life — cars honking, the chatter of pedestrians, several individuals getting whooped on, and the occasional bark of a dog.

Finally here. Caspian stood at the entrance of the House of Takoyaki. As he reached for the door, it swung open, revealing Dr. Genus and Armored Gorilla stepping out.

Dr. Genus adjusted his glasses, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips, while Armored Gorilla gave him a respectful nod.

"There you are, Caspian. She is downstairs waiting for you," Dr. Genus said, handing an unopened umbrella to Armored Gorilla.

Caspian's brows furrowed. "You're leaving?"

"Yes, we have several important errands to run."

Caspian noticed Armored Gorilla's strange expression. "Is something wrong?"

"No, nothing's wrong, per se..." Dr. Genus shook his head. "... it is just that Mosquito Girl needs you here in order to acclimate properly to her new self." Dr. Genus opened his umbrella as raindrops began to fall. "We will return in an hour or two. When we come back, I will detail the good news about our of late financial prosperity."

Relieved about her and excited at the idea of no longer having to frugally use the dwindling rent money Genos had given him when he moved in, Caspian bid them farewell and stepped inside the House of Takoyaki, closing the door behind him.

With eager steps, he descended the creaky wooden stairs. As he reached the bottom of the stairway and turned to his right, his gaze connected with hers.

"Caspian!" Mosquito Girl vanished from where she had been seated and reappeared in front of him, throwing her arms around him and squeezing with what seemed like all her might.

"I've missed you," Caspian said, hugging her back. "Your strength and speed have definitely increased."

Mosquito Girl pulled away, her body jittering with excitement. "Isn't it wonderful? I feel so alive, like I've been seeing the world through a fog until now."

She's a bit hyper, but I don't se—

His notions shattered as her lips collided with his, her head tilted, the shortened proboscis beneath her large compound eyes brushing past the side of his head. At the same time, her hand wandered over his crotch, grazing the fabric of his shorts.

What?!

Caspian placed his hands on her shoulders and gently separated himself from her. "What's going on with you? Not that I didn't enjoy that, but are you really okay?"

"Never better," Mosquito Girl said, her face flushed as she panted. "Every instinct in my body is screaming that I need you. I need to breed with you, right here, right now. D-Don't you want me too…?"

Was this alright? Could he accept her here? She had just awoken from her transformation. Was she thinking clearly?

Caspian felt conflicted, though that didn't stop the blood from rushing to his lower member after hearing her words. "I do want you, but… is this really what you want? You seem to be under the influence of this—"

"I know this is what I want," Mosquito Girl interrupted, pressing a finger to his lips to silence him. "My acclimation depends on it."

"You know about that?"

Mosquito Girl reached behind her back, her intent unclear. "Of course I know. I'm more in tune with myself, with the world, than ever before."

Isn't this too convenient for me?

"Once we start, there's no going back," Caspian said, his lust swelling.

"Good. Because with you…" Mosquito Girl's hand returned from behind her back, having loosened the ties of her white gown. As it slipped to the floor, her translucent wings, usually tucked flat against her back, unfurled. "…I only want to move forward."
