"An old friend and it's not 'we' but 'I'." Layla corrected Frank but he completely missed how pale her face turned at the mention of that 'friend'. She pursed her lips to not let out a single word more while she was unbeknown to Frank's gaping at her.
"What?" She turned her head from the car's window to face him glaring at her.
"Do you think I'm a five-year-old toddler… like Adrian?" He snapped once he got her full attention. She gulped down her lump as she waited patiently for the words that she dreaded the most.
"I'm not allowing you to meet anyone without my presence." Layla heard his remark and inwardly although she felt warmth at his words but in reality, she knew she had to turn down his offer because he wouldn't fulfill her request let alone he would entertain her.
