[Cécile's POV]
The sound of heels woke the dark-haired maid. Before she could even remember where she was, her mind was already reaching for her trusty knife and the quickest way to draw it. But she suddenly felt a chill in her arms and back—a reminder that she wasn't in top condition for a fight.
As soon as she realized that, her mind started working slightly more properly. She knew where she was now—it was the basement she had not left for days. Also, those heel sounds were probably coming from one of her subordinates—she could even tell which one from the sound alone.
"Chief." A middle-aged man with slicked-back dark hair entered her view. "Madam is back."
"Hm…"
