Elisa woke up to the sound of soft knocking on her door. The morning light crept in through the curtains, casting long golden stripes across the floor; the wall clock read eleven' o'clock.
"Wow, I slept for seventeen hours straight," she muttered to herself, her throat feeling like she swallowed sand.
She was still curled up on her couch, the empty potion bottle on the floor beside her like a damning piece of evidence. She was always knocked out for hours anytime she took the potion; that was why she told Mary to please allow Tilly to stay the night with her, and she was very happy to take Tilly.
The knock came again, followed by the soft creak of the doorknob turning.
She quickly kicked the pushed bottle under the couch.
"Elisa?" Mira's voice was soft, hesitant.
Elisa blinked, groaning as she sat up. "Hey," she rasped, pushing hair from her face.
