Another short chapter....
As you know Busy with RL
---
A few hours earlier…
After Leo had left for school, Tiamat sat comfortably in a chair, watching her daughter.
"I think you should have another name," she said suddenly.
Tia—her daughter, the one who had taken up her name—paused, tilting her head in confusion. "Why?"
Tiamat gave her a knowing smile. "Because things might get confusing when we're both called Tiamat."
Especially when it comes to Leo
She leaned forward, resting her chin on her palm. "From now on, you'll be called Nammu by everyone....Its a name I held originally."
Tia—Nammu now, apparently—frowned. "But I've used this name my whole life....and there is no problem with Leo in communicating."
Tiamat's smile widened, her eyes gleaming.. "Yes, but we're about to bring your son out of that seal."
Silence.
Nammu's breath hitched.
Her hands, which had been resting on her lap, clenched slightly.
Then, slowly, her lips parted."…We are?"
"Yes, we are."
---
Tiamat stood before the seal, her arms crossed as she observed it with a critical eye.
She could feel the power behind it, the presence of her grandson—strong, far stronger than she had expected.
"Huh," she mused, tilting her head slightly. "My grandson is this powerful… and yet, this flimsy thing is what's keeping him locked up?"
Nammu, standing beside her, let out a small sigh. "Mother, this 'flimsy thing' is actually one of the strongest seals ever created. Even by godly standards." She glanced at the glowing barrier with a hint of bitterness. "It cost Him more than half of his strength and his immortal status just to put this thing up."
Tiamat turned to her daughter with a blank expression, looking for all the world like a confused mother trying to process information she found unnecessary. "…And?"
Before Nammu could respond, Tiamat simply raised her fist, cocked it backward, and punched the seal—hard.
The space shook.
A sharp crack echoed as the first fractures ran across the surface of the ancient barrier.
Tiamat blinked, staring at the now-damaged seal.
"Huh," she muttered, flexing her fingers. "You're right. This seal really is strong."
That's your assessment?! Nammu screamed internally, barely holding back the urge to grab her own head in frustration.
Before she could say anything, a low, guttural roar rumbled from within the seal.
It wasn't an earth-shattering or menacing sound—it was more like a deep, tired growl, the kind a child might make when waking up from a long nap.
Tiamat, ..… melted on the spot.
Her eqrs drooped, her eyes practically had stars on them, and her hands clasped together as she let out a soft, delighted gasp.
"My grandson's roar is so cute…" she muttered dreamily, practically glowing with affection.
Tiamat snapped out of her grandmother haze, shaking her head.
Right—first things first.
Pulling her fist back, she struck the seal once more, this time with the full force of her power.
The barrier didn't just crack—it shattered like fragile glass, fragments of divine energy scattering into nothingness.
From within the fading remnants of the seal, a figure lunged forward— Cute and fierce.
"Cute" in Tiamat's tainted perception.
With a sharp Roar, he darted straight at Tiamat, his " little" fangs bared as he tried to bite her.
Chomp!
Before his teeth could even graze her, Tiamat's hand moved instinctively.
Smack!
The slap landed right on his nose, and the "tiny" dragon tumbled backward, spinning through the empty space before coming to a stunned stop.
Tiamat sighed, " .... Kids these days"
Placing a hand on her hip before turning to Nammu.
"He's your offspring," she said flatly.
"Get him to calm down."
Nammu flinched as she watched him shake off the tumble.
His horns glowed faintly, and his eyes burned with untamed power.
Even as young as he was, he was already brushing against the peak of existence.
Almost as strong as Great Red...
That was ridiculous.
Excluding the truly nonsensical abilities some gods had—because, seriously, who thought it was a good idea to manifest something like "the destruction of the universe" as an actual being?—her son was terrifying.
At least he didn't have conceptual abilities.....Yet.
She hoped.
Maybe, just maybe, she could handle this with her measly chaos magic.
Before she could form a plan, something smacked the top of her head.
Thwack!
Nammu winced, rubbing the sore spot as she turned to glare at her mother.
Tiamat crossed her arms, looking unimpressed. "Stupid girl. He's your son, not an enemy."
She gestured at the still-growling little dragon.
"Calm him down with love," she said, as if that was the easiest thing in the world.
Nammu hesitated, staring up at the massive form of her son.
He was furious, confused, lashing out at everything around him.
One of his energy beams shot out wildly, tearing through a distant planet, reducing it to nothing but floating dust.
Another struck a star, and within moments, it exploded, its light swallowed by the endless darkness of space.
He was huge.
Larger than anything she had seen except for maybe Great red.
When she had given birth to him, he had been the size of a small country like japan.
Now, if he landed on Earth, he could bite through entire continents with ease.
And Tiamat had called his attempt to bite her cute.
Nammu swallowed, trying to calm the rising panic inside her.
She knew this wasn't mindless attack—this was centuries of rage, of loneliness, of fear.
He had been sealed away in complete isolation, abandoned before he ever got to see the world.
He had no idea what was happening, no way to understand who or what was in front of him.
And it was her fault.
"▂▂▃▃▄▄▅▅▅▅▅▅▄▄▂▂"
Trihexa let out another deafening roar, his burning eyes locking onto her.
Then, without hesitation, he charged up another blast—a beam of pure mana, aimed right at her.
She barely had time to think.
But she could do one thing...that she had always wanted to do ever since the day she made the mistake of abandoning him.
Nammu shot forward, straight toward the incoming blast, her heart pounding.
And just before it could hit her—just before it could wipe her out completely—she reached him.
She pressed her lips to his forehead, her hands caressing his head.
"I'm sorry."
He froze.
"I'm so, so sorry," Nammu whispered, her voice trembling as she clung to him. "I was a terrible mother."
Nammu's breath stopped...
Her body trembled, but it wasn't out of fear.
It was the crushing weight of realization—the unbearable truth she had spent decades ignoring.
Her lips quivered as she spoke.
"I was so obsessed with my own hatred... so lost in my vengeance that I never thought about what it meant for you."
A tear slipped from her eye, trailing down her cheek as her fingers dug into his rough skin.
"I threw myself into anger... and in doing so, I pushed you into misery before you even had the chance to live."
Her voice cracked, her vision blurred, but she didn't stop.
She couldn't.... it was years of bottled regret flooding in a single moment.
"I never saw you as my child.....I saw your power, your potential, and I let myself believe that was all you were....I thought of what you could be before I ever thought of what you needed."
Her hands tightened, her nails pressing into his scales as more tears fell freely.
"And because of that... I let you suffer... I let you rot in the dark, alone, confused."
"A child.....My child."
"And all because I was too blinded by my own pain to see you."
"I've been decaying ever since," she admitted.
"My power fading. My body isn't what it was when I first brought you into this world... because deep down, I know I don't deserve to be what I was."
She let out a bitter laugh, one that was swallowed by her own sobs.
"And even now... even now, I'm still blinded by your power. I looked at you and thought of how strong you've become instead of how much you've suffered."
Her head pressed against his as she wept.
"I don't deserve forgiveness."
"And I don't deserve to be your mother. But I am, and I am so sorry."
Her voice broke completely, her whole body shaking as she clung to him.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry."
