Adrien Moreau, Sophie's boyfriend arrived at the party, the embodiment of professionalism and poise. His presence was warmly acknowledged by many as the hard-working employee who had made a significant impact at Lucien's company. Smiling politely, he greeted Lucien and Celine, who stood together like the perfect power couple.
"Mr. Moreau," Lucien said, shaking his hand.
"Thank you for the invitation," Adrien responded, his demeanor humble yet confident.
"You've earned your place here," Lucien replied, before excusing himself to attend to other guests.
As Adrien moved through the crowd, exchanging pleasantries, his gaze fell upon a woman who seemed to glow amidst the bustling party. Something about her stirred a deep sense of recognition within him. Her graceful poise, the elegance of her flowing gown, and the mysterious allure of her mask held him captive. The person he saw was Sophie but he couldn't recognised her due to her mask.
Unable to resist, Adrien started toward her, his heart quickening. But just as he was about to reach her, Ettiene intercepted him.
"Adrien! Perfect timing. The visitors from Canada are eager to meet you," Ettiene said enthusiastically, steering him toward a group of executives.
Adrien cast one last glance at the woman (Sophie)before following Ettiene, the sense of familiarity still tugging at him.
Meanwhile, across the room, Lucien had been observing Sophie, seated amidst a throng of admirers. The sight of so many people fawning over her ignited a spark of irritation within him. Determined to disperse the crowd, he strode toward her with purpose.
"Excuse us," Lucien said sharply, his voice commanding immediate attention.
The group fell silent and quickly disbanded, leaving Sophie alone under his piercing gaze. Her heart raced as she stood, avoiding eye contact, her hands trembling slightly. The urge to flee consumed her, and she began to turn away.
But before she could take another step, Lucien's voice rang out, firm and resolute.
"Stop!"
