Ren groaned in pain as she moved; her body ached all over. The earth beneath her was damp and solid. She pressed her arm against the garden floor and sat up straight. "Ah, this burns!" She touched the graze on her neck.
"No poison, though!" She creased her forehead.
'You are here with us.'
The voice echoed softly, breathily. Ren looked around frantically. "Who are you?"
The area was vast and devoid of life. Thick thorns and vines were a few feet away from her, completely encircling the zone.
Her eyes settled on the fountain, which was covered with moss, and lost its actual form. Right next to the fountain, she saw a thick vine, its roots protruding from the ground. On the other side of the fountain, her gaze stopped on the rose.
"This is it, the place where the Rose and the Vine were planted."
'Yes… Yes, that's us. Help us! Heal us. We tasted your blood. We are now sure.'
"Sure of what?"
"You are her blood!"
