Then Liam let out a low sigh. "Look, Chloe like I said… I literally just decided a few minutes ago. Why are you coming at me like I've been hiding something?"
There was a pause on her end. Then her voice came softer, almost thoughtful. "Yeah… I know. I get that now. I'm sorry if it came off too harsh."
Then She bit her lip on the other side of the call, a little regret creeping into her tone. In her mind, she was already backtracking—Maybe she did overreact. Maybe she panicked too quickly. She had just been scared. Scared that Liam might be slowly pulling away from her… especially since Valentina came back into the picture.
"I just… I just wanted to be sure," she continued, her voice quieter now. "I wanted to be sure you weren't playing any tricks on me, or trying to make me feel like I don't matter. That's all."
