"Scyther!"

Scyther had already taken its position in the battlefield, gazing intently at Liam, its eyes burning with fighting spirit.

Sensing the battle intent in Scyther's gaze, Liam smiled as he walked to the trainer's position and pulled out a PokeBall.

"Scyther, I won't hold back this time. I'll use my strongest ace to claim victory in this battle!"

"Let's have a good fight! Go, Garchomp!"

As the PokeBall was thrown, a burst of white light shot out, landing in the battlefield. When the light faded, Garchomp's imposing figure stood proudly.

"Rooarrr!"

The moment Garchomp appeared, it locked eyes with its opponent. Feeling the intense battle intent radiating from Scyther, it couldn't help but let out a roar.

"Scyther!"

Scyther, too, seemed satisfied with its opponent. It could sense an overwhelming pressure from Garchomp—this was the kind of intense battle it had long been looking forward to.

Seeing the two Pokémon had acknowledged each other, Liam took out the Safari Ball that once belonged to Scyther and casually tossed it toward Garchomp.

"Chomp!"

At Liam's quiet call, Garchomp instantly understood. Without even looking back, it swung a fin in a swift motion, shattering the Safari Ball mid-air.

"Scyther?"

Seeing this, Scyther's eyes flickered with confusion. It turned to Liam, unsure of his intentions.

"This is my determination." Liam looked straight at Scyther with unwavering confidence. "If you win, then this Safari Ball has no meaning. But if I win, I will capture you again—this time, with my own PokeBall."

"Scy!"

Though surprised, Scyther felt a surge of excitement. It had met the right person after all.

"Enough talk—let's battle! Stay sharp, Scyther, here comes our attack! Garchomp, Dragon Claw!"

With Liam's command, the battle erupted. Garchomp let out a low growl, sweeping its fins to the side. A layer of blue-violet energy coated its fins, forming two blade-like Dragon Claws.

In the blink of an eye, Garchomp charged forward with astonishing speed, closing the distance in mere moments before slashing down with its massive claws.

Sensing the immense power behind the attack, Scyther didn't dare take it head-on. With a swift beat of its wings, it narrowly dodged the incoming strike.

"Scyther!"

For the first time, Scyther's expression grew serious. It had always relied on its exceptional speed to overwhelm opponents, but now it faced a Pokémon just as fast as itself.

A stubborn determination ignited in its heart.

The moment it dodged the attack, Scyther retaliated with a flurry of slashes, its scythe-like arms cutting through the air in rapid succession—each strike more powerful than the last.

"Roar!"

Garchomp quickly raised its fins to block, but the moment it made contact, it was shocked by the sheer force behind Scyther's strikes.

Despite being a lightweight Pokémon, Scyther's slashes carried immense power. Worse still, each consecutive slash grew stronger and faster, pushing Garchomp into a defensive position.

"Technician ability combined with Fury Cutter... No wonder it's so powerful. But this fight is far from over! Garchomp, Sandstorm!"

The Technician ability boosted Scyther's weaker moves significantly, and when combined with Fury Cutter's stacking power, it created a terrifying offensive. But Liam wasn't one to sit back and take hits—it was time to turn the tide.

"Roarrr!"

At Liam's command, Garchomp's eyes flashed as it forcefully swung its fins, pushing Scyther back just enough.

Seizing the opening, Garchomp let out a powerful roar, summoning a violent Sandstorm that engulfed the entire battlefield.

The raging sandstorm filled the air with dust and debris, making it impossible to see clearly.

"Scyther!"

Scyther struggled within the storm, its Bug and Flying typing making it especially vulnerable to the Rock-type sand particles pelting against it.

More importantly, the storm obstructed its vision, making it impossible to locate its opponent.

Meanwhile, Garchomp thrived in the harsh environment. Its Sand Veil ability granted it increased evasion and speed within the storm.

More than that, the fin-like structure on Garchomp's head gave it an uncanny sense of direction in sandstorms, allowing it to move with precision.

Like a true predator lurking in the sand, Garchomp lowered its body, gliding swiftly through the battlefield. Its dorsal fin cut through the storm like a shark slicing through waves.

"Garchomp, Fire Fang!"

From outside the sandstorm, Liam gave his next command. He and Garchomp shared an unspoken bond—he didn't need to see Garchomp to know exactly what it was planning.

And sure enough...

"Roarrr!"

Hearing Liam's command, Garchomp grinned before pushing off the ground. It became a blur of white, tearing through the sandstorm as fire flared around its fangs.

In the blink of an eye, it burst through the storm, lunging straight at Scyther from behind!

"Scyther!!"

The sandstorm not only impaired vision but also drowned out sound, making it impossible for Scyther to react in time. Its only choice was to brace itself and prepare for a counterattack.

But it was too late.

A deep growl came from behind, and when Scyther turned, all it saw was a massive white shark bursting through the storm, jaws wide open, flames surging from its fangs.

Panicked, Scyther reflexively crossed its scythes to block, but Garchomp's Fire Fang clamped down, the searing flames burning its arms.

"Scyther!!"

Though its scythes were hardened bone, they still had nerve connections. The intense pain made Scyther cry out. But just as Liam expected, Scyther's survival instincts kicked in.

Its eyes turned fierce—it wasn't going down without a fight.

With a sudden burst of energy, its crossed arms glowed intensely, forming an 'X' shape. In the next instant—X-Scissor!

The powerful move struck Garchomp, forcing it to release its bite. Garchomp quickly countered with a slash, knocking Scyther away before retreating back into the sandstorm.

"Scyther!!"

Furious, Scyther slashed wildly around itself, its roars filled with frustration.

Then, the sandstorm began to fade.

As the last grains of sand settled, both Pokémon were revealed once more, staring each other down.

Seeing Garchomp again, Scyther's eyes burned with renewed battle spirit. It flapped its wings furiously, charging forward with its scythes glowing white.

"Garchomp, Dual Chop!"

"Roar!"

Garchomp's fins gleamed with blue-violet energy as it lunged forward, engaging Scyther in a fierce head-to-head clash. The moment their attacks connected, Scyther was sent flying backward from the sheer force.

"This ends now—Dragon Rush!"

"Roarrr!"

Garchomp let out a deafening roar as powerful Dragon-type energy surged around it. Its entire body became a flying dragon-shaped projectile, diving toward Scyther at full speed.

"Scyther!"

Unwilling to back down, Scyther countered with a powerful Silver Wind, sending a shimmering whirlwind upward. But the difference in power was too great—Garchomp tore through the attack, slamming into Scyther with full force.

BOOM!

A massive explosion shook the battlefield, sending dust flying everywhere.

When the dust settled, Garchomp stood triumphantly, howling at the sky. Beneath its feet, Scyther lay unconscious in a crater.

Liam brushed away the dust as he walked forward, patting Garchomp's arm in encouragement before kneeling beside the fallen Scyther.

"Well? Want to come with me? Together, we'll find even stronger opponents."

Scyther slowly opened its eyes. It glanced at Liam, then at Garchomp. Finally, its gaze turned firm as it gave a resolute nod.

"Scyther!"

Liam grinned, pulling out a brand-new PokeBall and placing it in front of Scyther.

"Welcome to the team, Scyther."
