A great jagras barrels through the underbrush, eyes gleaming with greed. The trees and stones crumble under its weight as it moves with an unexpected agility for its latest meal-an anjanath hatchling that had strayed too far from home. Such an exotic meal was too tempting for the Jagaras to let go. As for the said hatchling, its little heart was pounding as it ran harder than its little legs had ever run in its short life.
The anji hatchling ducks under a log held up by two boulders, turning its head slightly to see and hear that the ballooning ball of fangs had charged straight though once again, as if it was not affected by how tough the objects were. It would know thanks to how many times the hatchling had crashed into these previously thought immovable objects.
Omenflies and bitter bugs take to the air as the game of cat and mouse continues. Unbeknownst to the duo, their ruckus had caught the attention of a certain peeved wyvern that's out for blood.
The hatchling suddenly grinds to a stop as to what was before it. A log larger than any tree that it has seen before blocks its way forward. A roar from behind it snaps the anji hatchling out of its awe as it flees towards the edge of the large log. The Great jagaras' head bursts out from the mess of bushes that had blocked its view. Looking around, the Jagras' eyes narrow, having lost sight of its recent meal target.
The hatchling, hidden between the vines of a lone tree, watches as the bloated creature begins to sniff around. It could feel the hairs on its back rise as the jagras' head suddenly snaps towards the lone tree. With a loud bellow, the great jagaras rolls towards it, intent on keeping the hatchling in place, in one way or another. Unfortunately, the hatchling had long fled its hiding spot the moment those reptilian eyes landed on its hiding spot. So, instead of a delicious pancake, the Great Jagaras had gotten a mouthful of vines, with more tangling around its rotund body.
The Great jagaras could only watch, flailing about to free itself, as the anji hatchling scurried away. After escaping from the jaws of the Jagaras once again, the hatchling had begun to feel tired. Knowing that its pursuer was busy enjoying the plant life, the anji hatchling decided to take a short rest. Though the break was a lot shorter than the hatchling had hoped for, as another roar sounded out from the Great jagaras, only this time sounding a bit...different.
Multiple smaller roars sound out from around the anji hatchlings area, immediately lifting it to its feet. Looking around, the hatchling spotted the thing. It was a smaller version of the creature that was chasing, with those same sickly yellow eyes and the razor like teeth most definitely for tearing up smaller creatures-or hatchlings in this case. Then another had shown up crawling on the side of the tree, with a third right behind.
Before the hatchling knew it, the jagras pack summoned by its boss had arrived. the jagaruses leap into action, each intent to claim the kill. The hatchling dodged as best as it could, getting the occasional instinctual kick here and there. Wounds began to build up on the hatchling, further exhausting it. One of the jagaruses, seeing its chance, leaped. A pained chirp escapes from the anjanath as the claws slashed at its left eye. Before the jagaras could capitalize on the new advantage, it was kicked into the distance.
The anji hatchling had felt a lot of emotions in that moment. The fear of how bad the injury felt, the anxiety of the jagras pack nearby, even the joy of punting the attakcer that hit its eye. Yet none of these could compare to the anger it felt in being chased and toyed with. That rage also seemed to fill its chest, and travelling up towards it's throat. Instinct kicking in once more, the hatchling opened its maw towards the group nearest to it and spat. Instead of the usual glob of mucus however, a small fireball flew out, exploding on the unprepared jagaruses.
The others reeled back, hissing and retreating as the fear of flames grasps the hearts of the semi experienced jagaruses. Exhausted and now sporting a sore throat, the hatchling falls to the forest floor. Heavy thumping is heard as the Great jagaras, finally free, looms over the now weakened hatchling. As the jaws draw close, the hatchling shuts its eyes, fearing what was to come. Then it heard an all too familiar roar. Opening its eyes, the hatchling sees that the Great jagaras' attention is turned to something else. That said thing soon comes into view of the hatchling, finally bringing it a sense of comfort.
Evans' jaws clamped around the Great jagaras, forcing it to the ground. He soon drags the jagaras across the rocks, before lifting it to the sky, still trapped between his teeth. The Great jagaras flails its limbs as Evans shakes the vile creature like a dog would with its' chew toy. Evans finally slams it into the ground once more, jaws closing, resulting in a clear cracking sound being heard. The great jagaras goes still as Evans saunters home with the anji hatchling that was lifted onto his back.
