Raynald looked at Lucian with eyes full of judgment, his fingers casually twisting the wine glass in his hand. From the corner of his eye, he saw how the young man beside him remained standing with a calm expression, even though their conversation touched on a sensitive matter.
After a moment of silence, Duke Reynald finally opened his mouth, his voice sounding like someone testing something. "I have received information that the case of illegal funds is being silenced at this time."
He raised his eyebrows, taking a sip of his wine before adding, "Is it because of you?"
Lucian didn't answer right away. He remained calm, only observing the surface of the wine in his glass before lifting it slowly to his lips. After taking a slight sip, he finally spoke, his voice sounding light, but sharp at the same time. "I just do what I think should be done."
