Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: An Opportunity to Meet at the Library

The man's eyes narrowed, as if recalling something he did not wish to share. A thin, cold, and mocking smile formed at the corner of his lips. "Officer," the man continued, in a taunting tone, "if you want to learn such magical powers, you only have one option. Kneel before me and beg me earnestly."

The man's confidence was both captivating and intimidating. Every word he spoke seemed to carry the weight of something greater, something invisible to the ordinary eye.

Although the man did not come from a wealthy family, the aura he exuded undoubtedly indicated that he was someone with abundant resources.

Secondly, the man used extraordinary magic to kill people. Even though he admitted to the crime he committed, even if he revealed everything here, he could still regret it in court. However, the court would never believe his words. They did not trust magic, and therefore, the man did not feel rushed.

What needed to worry was the police.

Sidney pressed his lips together, suppressing the anger that was beginning to burn within him. He controlled it perfectly, trying to speak in the most relaxed tone possible. "What? Is your magic inherited from your family?" Sidney asked, his voice low yet sharp.

The Indian man shook his head, his expression turning serious. "No," he replied calmly. "I learned this magic from an old Chinese man. But that man is crazy now. This old man carries a wind chime all day long and no longer has the ability to use that magic. The magic has now been passed on to someone else."

Sidney's eyes sparkled upon hearing this. "Crazy? Does that have anything to do with you?" Sidney asked, his voice full of an undeniable curiosity.

The Indian man leaned back in his chair, spreading his arms with a cold smile on his face. "I didn't say that," he replied, trying to hide the tension in his voice. "Don't slander me. If you keep this up, I will sue you for defamation."

Outside the interrogation room, Lance felt an inexplicable wave of emotion. Lance's heart stirred slightly, and he immediately turned to Nancy. In a serious tone, Lance said, "Nancy, we need to find that Chinese old man!"

"Great!" Nancy replied, her eyes shining with enthusiasm.

However, before Nancy could continue her words, a female police officer holding documents rushed over, her face looking anxious. "Nancy, the head detective is calling all detectives for a meeting. There's a big case," the woman said quickly, almost out of breath.

Nancy was taken aback and quickly nodded. "Thank you, Carol. We'll be there right away."

The female officer hurried in and hurried out, leaving the room in a brief silence.

Lance didn't want to linger in that place. With a bit of hesitation, he said to Nancy, "I'm leaving now. If there are any developments in this case, please let me know as soon as possible..."

It was almost noon when I left the New York Police Department.

Lance did not head home immediately. Instead, he chose to grab a bite to eat on the way, hurrying towards his next destination—the New York Public Library.

The fairy tale written by Elliot Randolph was intentionally vague and confusing. Every word felt like a missing clue, failing to provide a clear understanding.

Lance's desire to uncover the truth burned even stronger, but the book offered him no answers. Therefore, he decided to go to the library, hoping to find clearer clues.

The New York Public Library is the largest library in the United States, and indeed, its grand building resembles a palace that cannot be overlooked. Strategically located between Times Square and Grand Central Station in Manhattan, the library features two large lions at its entrance, known as the "Astor Lion" and the "Lenux Lion." These lions are so famous, not just in the city but throughout the United States. Their names are derived from two major donors who funded the construction of this magnificent library: Mr. Astor and Mr. Lenux.

The entire library building is made of marble, with doors, windows, and a metal bronze dome that gleams. The high domes are adorned with simple yet stunning chandeliers, creating an elegant atmosphere that captivates anyone who enters its halls. It feels like being inside a palace of books, although it is more akin to a museum. Every corner and crevice is filled with historical works, adding to the magical aura of the place.

It can be said that the United States is a unique country—teocratic within a democracy. The influence of religion touches nearly every aspect of life, shaping the worldview of most Americans.

This is also clearly evident in this library. In every bookstore or library, the largest and most magnificent shelves are usually filled with various versions of the Scriptures. There are thousands of different versions, some of which have hundreds of types, arranged in a captivating layout that piques curiosity.

Alongside the shelves filled with Scriptures, there are also shelves showcasing other classic religions. One that stands out is Norse Germanic mythology. Undeniably, the influence of Norse mythology in the West ranks second only to Christian culture, and this library carefully displays works that delve into the depths of those myths.

In the Western world, the influence of this culture is so strong, deeply rooted in the history of European and American nations. Many major ethnic groups have historical roots closely tied to the Germanic tribes, including the Vikings.

Those often referred to as "European pirates" were actually a wandering society that relied on raiding and trade for survival. Their history, filled with adventure and warfare, forms a significant part of the stories and myths that persist to this day.

They attacked wealthy territories, including the Roman Empire and other coastal regions of Europe. This is similar to the wanderers from Asia, such as the Khitan and Jurchen tribes, who plundered the Ming Dynasty in a similar manner—taking wealth from more established and powerful civilizations.

In the course of history, two Viking tribes—Angles and Saxons—conquered England and established kingdoms there. However, the Viking conquest of England did not end there. In 1066, the Normans—descendants of Vikings who had settled in France—conquered England in the Battle of Hastings.
