Chapter 9 - Ep.9

Jacob never thought they day would come where his greatest failures would give a path for the future.

'Their powers are gone but their experience will remain. May they serve you well… Mel Glazil.'

As Jacob enveloped himself in darkness once again to hide his presence the two skeletons breathed air as if they had lungs like a normal human.

But even without the flesh the two skeletons looked alive with their own personalities and voices.

"Ah… it feels good to breathe fresh air again. Even if I'm in a skeleton. Hmm? Where am I?"

"Can't you tell old friend? We are in the-"

Before the second skeleton could speak another word the first skeleton waved his hand and sent the second skeleton flying.

"It seems even in death I can't get rid of your annoying voice. I already know we are in the realm of the living but I'm asking about this place."

Even Kantokol was at a loss for words before both skeleton's started to grow flesh and clothes.

"It seems we still have a portion of our powers. But they are sealed tight. The most we'll be able to do is regenerate our flesh and clothes."

"This is undoubtedly his doing. Things must be truly desperate if we have been revived. But what do we do about the Lich and the Human?"

Both men were well aware of Mel and Kantokol however they felt their movements restricted like the weight of a thousand planets landed on them.

'My skeletons… fused with them? But who are they? I can't remember any hunter like them before.'

Mel knew most hunters past Rank 5 and the two men before her were passively oozing out Mana on par with a Rank 7 Hunter.

"Hmm? It seems it wasn't just our powers that were sealed but our will as well."

"And it would seem that the Human is in control of our will… even if she doesn't realize it."

Mel and Kantokol came to their senses after hearing the man's words before Mel simply focused her mind and made them both start dancing vigorously and somewhat sexually.

"Hey! Stop it! Why am I dancing!? And why am I dancing with him!? I should have stayed dead!"

"Oh shut up! I don't want to dance with a pig either!"

"Who are you calling a pig?! If anything your the pig after eating an entire solar system!"

"That was one time when you forgot to erase them from existence!"

The two dancing men kept arguing with each other like they were brothers.

And while Mel was holding back her laughter a little Kantokol was vomiting whatever flesh he had in his body at the sight of the two of them dancing.

"Ok ok that's enough dancing you two. You seem to know each other quite a lot. What were your names while you were alive?"

Mel and Kantokol waited to hear their names but both of them remained silent.

"Hey! I asked for your names! Answer your Master you lousy undead!"

Mel quickly regretted her outburst as the both of them quickly erupted with Mana on par with Kantokol.

"A little human girl assumes command of us? The sheer arrogance! I hope you have prepared your grave little girl!"

"I will make sure you know your place human! There is only one creature in existence greater then us!"

Jacob could only sigh at yet another mistake by forgetting to take away the Mana they had when they died.

'Can't have you killing a climber now can we? I suppose I'll just have to limit their power to be less then Mel's.'

*Snap!*

Once again the duo felt a cold chill crawl up their spine before they felt their power plummet to Mel's level.

"Dammit! This is his doing again!"

"Come down here and face us you Bastard! Stop hiding from your mess!"

Kantokol's rotting eyes widened as he knew who the Duo were talking about.

'They must be my predecessors since I can already tell that we're share the same creator.'

Like Kantokol the two before him were created by Jacob to serve humanity and to protect humanity's future.

But there was a key difference between Kantokol and the other two, Kantokol wasn't blocked from entering into the future.

'Dammit! That bastard is still so stingy about what we did. To think that the Creator can hold a grudge across time. Guess I have no choice but to follow the commands of this human Girl.'

'Fine! I'll play your game for now… but I swear I'll kill you with my own two hands!'

Jacob could already imagine what they both were thinking and smiled before leaving the Tower to rest his eyes for a few days.

'This Climber will be in good hands and now it seems I need to catch up on some much needed sleep. I am human after all and a human needs time to unwind and relax to ease their mind.'

The duo felt Jacob's presence for only a second but it was unmistakable.

'The bastard is toying with us… Dam him!'

'Now I wished I had stayed dead.'

The two were two sides of the same coin, the Tartarus Coin to be exact.

Tuan Hiskue and Jakmol Watua weren't warriors or saviours but instead they were Jailors to the ultimate prison, the Tartarus Dimension.

A dimension so vast but yet so small that it's impossible to see without already knowing its shape.

Even now only three beings knew its location and its shape.

And two of them were now Undead serving a Human girl while the other was picking a hotel room to sleep in for the night.

"Hey little girl! What are your orders? My name is Tuan Hiskue."

"Just say what you want us to do. But I assume you want us to kill the Lich there right? I'm afraid at our strength combined it still wouldn't work. And my name is Jakmol Watua."

Mel looked dumbfounded to hear their words to hear that they lacked the strength necessary but that didn't stop them from trying to kill Kantokol with a surprise attack.

"Void Step."

"Piercing Line."

Tuan teleported behind Kantokol with blades made of pure Mana while Jakmol used threads of light to bind Kantokol.

"For whatever the reason I am thankful that your powers were taken as I have nothing to fear now. If you still remained at full strength then I would be at the disadvantage."

Just as Tuan and Jakmol had foreseen their combined powers were no match for Kantokol.

And that was before Kantokol revealed his true strength.

"Are you paying attention Climber? Witness true power over Death itself, Rise up from Darkness and Serve me."

The three felt the ground beneath them trembling and while Tuan and Jakmol remained unfazed Mel was trembling as an army of Death Knights came out of the ground.

"I-I-Impossible… to summon so many Death Knights at once… it's impossible."

Tuan and Jakmol wasted no time to confront the Death Knights while Mel was too scared to move.

"Just our luck to be enslaved to spineless Human after seeing a flock of Death Knights."

"Calm down Tuan. Not everyone experiences a horde of Death Knights like it a normal thing."

Tuan and Jakmol were fighting with everything they had while still being able to start a conversation.

It amazed Mel to see them fight with such precision and determination that it would have made her jump in and help.

But something was holding her back from moving forward.

'Why can't I move my legs! I don't feel afraid. But I still can't move!'

Time seemed to slow down as Mel watched her younger self stand around the corpses of the Death Knights.

"You still can't see it…. The beauty of what is to come…"

Mel reached out to try and grab her younger self before she disappeared and reappeared a few feet away.

"You have to see the world in a new light. Otherwise you will never save them all."

'What are you talking about? What am I failing to see?'

Mel felt the words her younger self spoke rattle in her head more and more before she realized she had been stabbed by her repaired dagger by her younger self.

Tuan, Jakmol, Kantokol and even the Death Knights remaining all froze in place as Mel had begun the first step as an neon emerald light washed over her.

"Hey Jakmol… are you seeing this? Is this even possible?"

"I don't know… a Human… controlling Death itself? It seems we have a glimpse of hope that our master isn't completely useless."

Tuan and Jakmol never imagined that a Human could wield Death's Power but it became a reality as Mel summoned a pack of undead Wolves along with a Devil Bear.

"Attack and win!"

With the newly arrived undead reinforcements the Death Knights were quickly eradicated until only Kantokol was all that was left.

"Impressive to be able to Summon a Devil Bear. But it is still not enough, Meteor Fall."

Liches were exceptionally good at Magic and one at Kantokol's level it was easy to cast a spell to flatten everything around them

"Now experience Death first hand and turn to ash!"

Tuan and Jakmol accepted death in hopes of being released from their new prison while Mel fell to the ground with no strength to try and evade the meteor.

But by the time to dust settled all that was left were their souls before the Tower started to regenerate their body's while only enhancing Mel's body.
