Chapter 181 - Chapter 180: Time and Space Traversal

A hundred years?

A thousand years?

Ten thousand years?

Billions of years!

Perhaps it can no longer be measured by mere time scales.

For it may have even surpassed the lifespan of many single universes!

As his attention fully focused on the thread, a vision appeared before him.

It was an incomparably massive pyramid.

Its base stood firmly on the ground, while its sharp peak pierced through the clouds, as if connecting the entire sky and earth.

At the upper part of the pyramid, several radiant golden figures stood, seemingly engaged in conversation.

Recognizing their distinctive appearances, Peter quickly identified each of them.

The figure wrapped entirely in white bandages, resembling a mummy, with a white cloak draped over its back but lacking a head atop its body—this must be the legendary Moon God, Khonshu.

At the same time, he was also a mysterious deity in the Marvel Universe—the one whom the superhero Moon Knight served.

Standing opposite the Moon God Khonshu was a goddess with a panther's head and a human body—undoubtedly Bast, the Panther God worshiped by Wakanda's Black Panther lineage.

Beside them was a man with long, dark red hair and a sinister smirk—Set, the god of chaos.

However, Peter's gaze did not linger on these great deities for long.

Following his instincts, his attention was soon drawn to a little girl running across the ground beneath the pyramid.

Compared to the other deities with bizarre appearances, this young girl—who also appeared in the Realm of the Gods—bore a much more human-like form.

However, there was one striking detail in her attire: a distinct spider emblem.

And from the feedback of his spider-sense, Peter quickly grasped a crucial truth—this little girl was none other than the true Spider Goddess, the creator of the Spider Totem!

Neith!

He saw Neith extend her hands, spinning threads from her palms and weaving them into a vast web, all while explaining the reason behind her actions.

Each thread represented a person's destiny.

Yet, she did not concern herself with where these threads would lead.

Every individual should write their own fate, and each destiny would inevitably intertwine with others.

Together, they wove the intricate and boundless tapestry of humanity's universe!

And this—was the Great Web of Life and Destiny!

Before long, Neith's Great Web was completed, its enormous structure spanning across the Realm of the Gods, forming the fundamental framework of the universe.

To commemorate this momentous event, the Earth Mother Gaea held a grand inauguration ceremony.

Bast, Atum, Agamotto, Khonshu, and numerous other deities gathered to witness the occasion.

During the ceremony, Neith introduced the helpers she had created for her web.

She called them "Spiders."

These spiders would instinctively seek out worthy individuals and bestow upon them their power.

Yet, along with this power came a mission!

At this moment, Peter finally understood what Spider-Man truly represented within the Marvel Universe.

But this revelation led to another striking realization—if this young goddess, Neith, who resided in the Realm of the Gods, was the true Spider Goddess and the creator of the Spider Totem…

Then did that mean the so-called "God of the Spider Totem," the Weaver, was merely a caretaker?

Or perhaps, when the Spider Goddess Neith perished or fell into slumber for some unknown reason, the Weaver took over the authority of the Spider Totem?

As he was deep in thought, he caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of his eye.

In the corner stood a goddess with a stunning figure, dressed in a high-slit gown. As she watched Neith engaging in a lively discussion with the gods, a hint of jealousy and resentment flickered across her face.

Seeing this expression, Peter's spider-sense tingled violently.

However, just as he was about to investigate further, everything suddenly went black before his eyes.

When he regained his senses, he found himself back in the Web of Life and Destiny within the Spider Society of Earth-928B.

He was still seated in the chair within the Web's eye, surrounded by several dome-like neural amplifiers above his head, designed to help those seated within quickly connect to the Great Web.

"What did you see?" Spider-Man 2099 asked curiously.

Beside him, Superspider-Man also cast a curious glance at Peter.

Peter instinctively furrowed his brows.

Instead of answering Spider-Man 2099 immediately, he quickly sorted through everything he had just witnessed while connected to the Great Web—especially what he had learned from that initial strand of silk.

Cross-referencing his findings with what Spider-Man 2099 had previously mentioned, Peter quickly noticed some inconsistencies.

Spider-Man 2099 had claimed that the Great Web spanned across the entire multiverse, with the Master Weaver seated at its center, overseeing everything, while the Spider Totems roamed the worlds, maintaining universal stability.

The second part of that statement aligned with the original concept of the goddess Neith.

But the first part...

Having witnessed the entire process of Neith creating the Great Web, Peter was certain that she had never designated a "Guardian of the Web of Life and Destiny."

This meant that the so-called Spider Totem God and the Master Weaver—the supposed guardian of the Web of Life and Destiny—was likely just someone who happened to gain a similar power and then proclaimed themselves a "false god."

In Eastern terms, such beings are often called "Grass-Head Gods"—a term used to describe those who are not officially recognized within a divine hierarchy.

However, despite being just a "Grass-Head God," the Master Weaver did seem to have accomplished something, based on Spider-Man 2099's account.

"When the Master Weaver was still alive, even if issues arose with certain worlds' Spider Totems, he could still make timely corrections to the Great Web, ensuring that those worlds, despite their deviations, could continue to exist instead of facing destruction."

Clearly, the Web of Life and Destiny does require a guardian.

And according to Spider-Man 2099, Peter himself seemed to be the prime candidate to take on that role.

However, Peter had no desire to bear such a heavy burden.

Sure, the title sounded prestigious—

Maintaining the peace and stability of the entire multiverse and countless worlds... Wow, what a grand responsibility!

But along with that came an overwhelming weight of duty.

And just from the brief moment he was connected to the Web of Life and Destiny, peering into various universes, Peter already found it unbearable.

He felt that if he remained in such a state for too long, he would become an indifferent "god," detached from everything.

Would he still be himself then?

Since he had no intention of taking on the role, he would need to find someone else.

And the best candidate was obvious.

Since the Master Weaver had done a fine job before, why not let him continue?

But the problem was... the Master Weaver was already dead.

How could he possibly resume his position?

The solution wasn't some "Revival of the Dead" magic card.

Instead, it was a new ability that Peter had just comprehended within the Great Web.

An ability called: Time-Space Traversal!
