The moment Tharion's blue eyes opened, Thalina froze.
For a breathless second, she couldn't believe it. He was alive. He was alive.
Then, without hesitation, she threw herself onto him.
"THARION!" she wailed, sobbing into his chest, her arms wrapping around him so tightly it was a miracle she didn't squeeze the life out of him again.
Tharion grunted, blinking in confusion as a mess of red hair and tear-streaked cheeks buried into him.
He hadn't even fully processed where he was, let alone why his body felt like it had been trampled by a herd of wild beasts.
But when his foggy vision cleared, the first thing he saw was Thalina. Crying.
And his chest squeezed in a way that had nothing to do with the pain.
She was so damn cute.
"You idiot!" Thalina sniffled, punching his shoulder weakly. "You almost died, and it was all my fault! I should have never—never—let you take me to the Rainforest! I should've—"
Tharion sighed, his smile lazy, amused. "You're crying over me?"
